“I’m going to say something most autism nutrition pages won’t…

Stop buying more supplements.

I love supplements.

I take supplements.

I recommend supplements.

But if your child is still eating 3 to 5 foods…

You’re missing the boat.

Actually…

You’ve fallen out of the boat and you’re swimming against the current.

Your gut microbiome determines what your child can actually do with the nutrients you’re giving them. And many supplements still have to be processed by the liver.

So if you’re trying to magnesium citrate your child out of constipation…

How’s that working?

Because the families who come into our program usually tell me the same thing:

“It worked… until it didn’t.”

Not because magnesium is the problem.

Because constipation is a symptom.

If your child is still eating 3 to 5 foods, another supplement isn’t the answer.

And if your child eats plenty of fibre and whole foods but is still constipated?

Stop asking what supplement to add.

Start asking why digestion isn’t working.

Poor bile flow, liver function, the microbiome, and gut motility all matter.

🥦 Food first.

💊 Then a few targeted supplements.

Not 17.

Not forever.

Just what the body actually needs.

Need help knowing what to feed, when to feed it, and how to expand foods without turning every meal into a battle?

Comment MEALTIME below, and I’ll send you the details about our NeuroNutrition Program.

Everyone wants to know the trick that suddenly gets an autistic child to eat new foods.

They expect me to say it’s a supplement.
A therapy.
A reward chart.
A magical “safe food.”

But that’s almost never where we start.

Because food refusal is rarely just about the food.

For many children, it’s a combination of sensory processing, nervous system regulation, gut health, nutrient deficiencies, learned experiences, and how safe their brain feels at the table.

When you only focus on getting “one more bite,” you’re solving the wrong problem.

The biggest breakthroughs often happen when we stop asking, “How do I make my child eat broccoli?” and start asking, “Why does their brain feel like broccoli isn’t safe in the first place?”

That’s when everything changes.

This is exactly why our approach starts with building the foundations first, so introducing new foods becomes easier instead of feeling like a battle every single night.

💬 What’s one food your child refuses no matter how many times you’ve offered it? Tell me below. I read every comment, and it helps me create content that actually solves the problems you’re facing.

You can’t build a healthy developing brain on a body that’s running on fumes.
And I know that sounds dramatic, but let’s be real…
A child’s brain doesn’t develop in a vacuum.
It develops inside a body.
A body that needs:
food it can actually use
sleep that repairs
a gut that isn’t screaming
a nervous system that feels safe
movement, sunlight, minerals, connection, and rhythm
These aren’t “extras.”
They’re the foundation.
Because therapy can teach skills… but biology determines whether the brain has enough fuel, safety, and stability to use them.
This is why lifestyle medicine matters so much for autism families.
Not because we’re trying to “fix” our kids.
We’re not here to fix your child. We’re here to fuel them.
When the body is inflamed, nutrient-starved, constipated, exhausted, overloaded, or stuck in fight-or-flight, the brain has to spend its energy surviving.
Not speaking.
Not learning.
Not connecting.
Not calmly hearing your whisper when their nervous system is blasting sirens.
And this is why I’ll keep saying it:
You can’t out-therapy a starving brain.
Food-first healing, gut support, sleep, nervous system regulation, detox support, movement, and connection are not side quests.
They are brain development supports.
They are how we build the foundation so the milestones actually have somewhere to land.
Start with the lowest-hanging fruit.
Start with the body.
Start with the foundation.
Because when the brain finally gets what it needs…
microscopic wins start turning into momentum.
And momentum matters.

These aren’t “side dishes.”

They’re brain food.

Broccoli sprouts.
Beets.
Sweet potato.
Zucchini.
Spinach.

I know… not exactly your child’s current favorites.

But here’s the reframe:

We’re not forcing food.

We’re building a brain.

And the brain needs raw materials to:

→ regulate
→ communicate
→ develop

You can’t grow a brain on beige food.
We start small.
We build trust.

And we feed the brain while we’re at it.

25/08/2026

Your child may not need another cue card.

Their brain may be missing the raw materials required to use it. 🧠🍽️

And here’s where autism families get trapped:

Their child needs better nutrition to support brain development…

But their child eats five foods.

So parents are told to add iron, zinc, folate, omega-3s and protein—while nobody shows them how to get those nutrients into a child who panics when a blueberry touches their plate.

Helpful. 🙃

That’s why picky eating cannot be treated like stubbornness.

Your child may be dealing with sensory overwhelm, nutrient gaps, altered taste, digestive discomfort, oral-motor challenges or a nervous system that sees unfamiliar food as unsafe.

You don’t overcome that with force.

You need to understand the biology and build food acceptance from where your child is right now.

If you’ve already saved 11 posts about nonverbal autism and “late talkers” today, STOP. This is the only one you need.

You’ve got 47 browser tabs open, a Notes app full of supplement names you can’t pronounce, and three different therapists telling you three completely different things. Last Tuesday you tried a new protocol from a Facebook group. By Thursday you’d abandoned it because someone in another group said it was wrong. Your child still hasn’t said your name.

The reason nothing is sticking isn’t because you’re not trying hard enough. It’s because most advice skips the neurological piece entirely. The Neuro Nutrition Program works from the inside out — we address the Neuro Nutrition Flow first, so your child’s brain is actually ready to build communication, before we layer in the milestone work.

📲 Every day I post what’s actually moving the needle for nonverbal kids — so stick around and you’ll stop collecting information and start seeing real shifts.

🎁 Comment GRAPEFRUIT and I’ll send you the independence guide (step by step) — the first step I walk every family through.
