NAME: Sweetie
AGE: 2 years
BREED: Morkie
SIZE: 10 pounds
Meet Sweetie, a 2-year-old Morkie who insisted on writing her own bio:
Hi, I’m Sweetie! I understand this creates certain expectations, and I do meet them… sometimes. I’m a smart and funny little girl with the vocal capabilities of a car alarm when I’m feeling conflicted. I’m known as “the ferocious Q-tip” around my foster’s neighbourhood, which honestly feels disrespectful to both my size and work ethic. I’m cute as a button, which makes it even more alarming the sounds I can produce when I’m upset. I’ll have you looking around wondering who made that noise because it couldn’t possibly have come from me. But surprise! It was me.
Once I get worked up I can have a hard time calming down but I’m still young, I love to learn, and I’m very food motivated, so I have been making great progress on my manners. I just need humans willing to continue helping me work through my tiny but deeply committed opinions. Now, let’s discuss my enemies: I detest bicycles, slow-moving cars, and strangers coming near me. I don’t really enjoy sharing food or when other dogs receive attention that clearly belongs to me, so any potential fur siblings will have to be OK with my occasional tiny dictator behaviour. Now for my strengths: I’m hilarious, affectionate, and an elite cuddler. I love swimming, paddle-boarding, car rides, toys, off-leash running, and spending time with my chosen friends. I also enjoy judging people from windows, being told I’m pretty and I’m fully house-trained.
My ideal home is with patient humans who will continue helping me work on my social etiquette and understand that underneath all the drama is a really sweet little girl who just wants to feel safe, loved, and included in everything you do.
Love,
Sweetie / The Ferocious Q-Tip

What a fantastic day yesterday!
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, the event raised approximately $1,100 toward our PAW Month fundraising goal. 💛
Thank you to everyone who came out to donate, grab some lunch, meet our adoptable dogs, get a tattoo, enjoy some ice cream, or simply stop by to say hello. Every visit, donation, and purchase helps make a difference for the dogs in our care.
This was the 3rd Annual PAW Month BBQ, and we are so grateful for the support, planning, and hard work that went into making it such a success.
A special thank you to our amazing partners and supporters:
● Pet Valu Carleton Place for once again hosting this event and for all of the planning and behind-the-scenes work that made the day possible.
● Ash & Arbour Tattoo Co. for donating their time and talent and helping raise funds through their flash tattoo fundraiser.
● Michelle's Ice Cream Carnival for bringing the treats and helping make the day even more fun.
● Betty's Balloons 😉
● Bridget's parents and friends for their support and for once again manning the BBQ and cotton candy station this year.
● Our dedicated volunteers, fosters, vendors, donors, and supporters. Events like this simply would not happen without you.

🎉 Four someones turned 7 weeks old today! 🎂
What better way to celebrate turning 7 weeks old than with a birthday photoshoot? 🥳🎂
A huge thank you to Josée Lavoie Photoart for capturing these adorable photos of our little crew. 🙏
Today we are celebrating Nala's Fighting Four:
💜 Laila Ali
🤎 Hurricane Carter
🧡 Sugar Ray
🩷 Ann Wolfe
Seven weeks ago today, mama Nala welcomed 8 puppies into the world. The road since then has not been easy. We said goodbye to several puppies far too soon, including one brave little boy who stole our hearts despite only being with us for a short time. 💙 There were sleepless nights, emergency vet visits, and more worry than we care to admit.
Shortly after the puppies were born, their foster mom suggested something special. She wondered if they could be named in honour of a very special dog named Cash (Cassius Clay).🪽
In her words:
"He deserves to be honoured for all the babies he's helped. It's easy to see the kind of dog he was and how he left a mark. And he was still doing that right to the end, even with these babies. Now they'll carry a little bit of that with them."
While Cash never got the chance to meet these puppies himself, his legacy lives on through them. Their names were inspired by him and by fighters, and from their very first day they have shown us exactly what it means to fight.
Today they are growing, exploring, causing mischief, stealing hearts, and keeping their foster mom very busy!
As they celebrate this milestone, we're thinking about resilience, second chances, and the dogs who leave paw prints on our hearts long after they are gone.🐾
Happy 7 weeks, little Fighting Four! 💛🐾
Which puppy would you steal a cuddle from first? 🥰
📸 Thank you again to Josee for these beautiful birthday photos. And thank you to foster mom for such a thoughtful and meaningful tribute. 💜
📌 Please Note: The puppies are not yet available for adoption but should be very soon. We won't be responding to inquiries or applications just yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

🌟 Welcome Wednesday 🌟
This week we're welcoming four new faces into Ottawa Dog Rescue 🐾
🐶 Lonan, Ashlyn & Harper, 5.5 week old mixed breed puppies from Iqaluit.
These adorable pups are settling into foster care! At just 5.5 weeks old, their days are filled with eating, sleeping, playing, and exploring the world around them. We can't wait to watch their personalities continue to develop.
🐶 Pop Tart, 10 year old Chihuahua:
Pop Tart is a sweet senior girl who recently arrived in our care. She is settling in nicely and enjoying the comforts of foster home life out in the country while we get to know her better.
Welcome to rescue, Lonan, Ashlyn, Harper and Pop Tart. 💛
📌 Please Note:
The puppies and Pop Tart are not yet available for adoption. We won't be responding to inquiries or applications just yet. Our new arrivals need time to decompress, receive vet care, and settle in before they are ready for adoption. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

🐾🎉 May Happy Tails 🎉🐾
May may have been a quieter month for adoptions, but for two lucky dogs, it was life-changing. 💛
These two dogs found their forever homes, and that's two more dogs who now have loving families, warm beds, and a place to call their own.
Every adoption matters. Every happy tail is worth celebrating.
To our adopters, thank you for choosing rescue. To our foster homes, volunteers, and supporters, thank you for helping make these happy endings possible.
Congratulations to our May adopters and their newest family members! 🐶
A very lucky third dog found his forever home in May as well, but you'll have to stay tuned for his Happy Tail story! 🐾✨

Well, look who's ready for adoption! 🎉
Frankie had her follow-up appointment today, and we are over the moon with the results, her eye has completely healed! 💕
A huge thank you to her amazing foster for all the time, dedication, and commitment to keeping up with FIVE different medications. It wasn't easy, but it clearly paid off!
This little girl is now as healthy as can be and ready to find her forever family. 💛
Name: Frankie
Age: 8 weeks old
Breed: Terrier/ Pug mix
Size: Small (currently ~3lbs and growing)
Have you ever wondered what the cutest, sweetest puppy looks like? Meet Frankie!
Frankie is the daughter of Zoey and sister to Beanie. This adorable little girl is sweet, curious, calm, and 100% cuddly. With her short coat, pug-like face, and big expressive eyes, she's impossible not to fall in love with.
Frankie is already about 95% pad trained and, being a very smart puppy, is expected to pick up her house training quickly. Like all puppies, she will need a patient and loving family committed to helping her learn and grow.
Raised in a home since she was just 24 hours old, Frankie has been handled regularly and absolutely loves people. She's affectionate, well-socialized, happy, healthy, and ready to find her forever family.
