We wait until after June 1 to plant potatoes as it is said that you won’t get potato bugs… we are going on 5 years of no potato bugs with this tip!

🌧️ A Gift From Above: Rain 🌧️

This spring has been a tough one for many farmers and animal owners. Hay supplies are tighter than we’ve seen in years, and prices have climbed dramatically. Round bales that once sold for $40–50 are now reaching $200 in some areas. Small square bales that typically cost $6–7 are selling for $12 or more.

The cold, dry start to the year has had many of us watching the skies and worrying about what lies ahead. Fields are behind, growth has been slow, and when feed is scarce, the consequences are felt by every livestock owner. Quite simply, without feed, animals cannot be fed.

That’s why today’s rain feels like such a blessing. 💧

Every drop is soaking into fields that desperately need it. And those rumbles of thunder? According to local lore, a little thunder helps shake the ground awake and get things growing.

We’re grateful for the rain, hopeful for the season ahead, and keeping our fingers crossed for healthy fields and barns full of hay. 🌱🌾

Hey young farmers!

We have a task for you! Did you want to help us protect our berry bushes?!

We are looking for some talented artists to paint some small stones in strawberry/raspberry red or blueberry/haskap blue or loganberry/ blackberry black!

We use these small rocks around our plants to trick those silly birds that try to eat our fruit during the summer! Between those and our ‘forbidden wooden block berries’ we hang on the plants, it works!

If you are interested in helping, it’s super easy! Gather some rocks up to or around a toonie size and paint them any of the colour’s noted above! You can make it as fancy as you’d like. If it is possible, if the paint is not waterproof, a matte clear coat would go along away but is not necessary.

Once you are done send us a message and we can arrange drop off or, if you want to, you can help us put them around some of our berry plants ☺️
