Before the power went out for good, Nixon Boyd (local legend, recording guru, wonderful human, new father) was 20 seconds into his set and the power went out the first time for a few minutes. He kept playing. And we sang along. It was pretty great! Creative Nomad Studios is a fantastic space for shows like this and Mark Webster (sound guy, lighting wizard, humble mentor, proud father) makes it sound and look amazing!

As part of the amazing alleyway show in Orillia this weekend Lenny Lashley played his soulful songs full of stories. It was captivating. He was joined by Timmy Kehoe, who last minute grabbed a mandolin and shredded along side. Pretty amazing.

I grew up going to shows (concerts) all the time. Hundreds of them. I’ve been getting back into it again thanks in large part to a beautiful, burgeoning culture of community and arts where I live and people like who put together shows like this one featuring Kevin Seconds. Kevin used to play in 7 Seconds, a hardcore band I love. He shared his acoustic music with us in an alley beside the venue whose power went out. The show went on despite there being no power and it was better for it!!! Very special.
