Harvest, hustle, prep beds, weekly sowing schedule, weeding, go for a swim, kick the soccer ball around with the little guy...rinse and repeat. Everything is firing off right now. The bounty is amazing and we are just trying to keep up with the gardens pace. These mid to late July sowings are crucial to have a steady supply of root crops throughout the fall and winter. Grateful for the abundance and the journey.:)

Well the transition from spring to summer crops in the main greenhouse is pretty much done. The mixed greens, spinach, Lettuce, carrots and beets are replaced with tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, basil, peppers and more lettuce heads. This rotation will happen again late summer and will allow us to grow greens until beginning of december. All our beds even outside see 2-3 vegetable rotations in a growing season. Gotta keep them beds occupied at all times!:)

Out are the greens and in goes the tomatoes! We love our day of transplanting tomatoes as a family. After caring for these for so long, it's always nice to give them the room to spread their roots. We'll be harvesting more greens for this coming weekend's market and another round of tomatoes will be transplanted.

Have you ever had fresh celery from the garden? It is amazing and we sure hope you like it as we just transplanted 50-ish plants in the ground. You'll find it this summer at the farmers market and in our flexible CSA program.

Meet our new farm workers!! They will be scratching the soil, eating bugs and fertilizing our garden beds š.
Our small chicken tractor on wheels, which houses 20 hens, will allow us to move them around different beds, giving them access to fresh grubs and plants at all times and in exchange they will help feed our soil. Oh...and apparently we will get eggs tooš

Yesterday the sun was shining, although still somewhat cold, We were pretty sure that winter was over and it was time to put up our new caterpillar tunnel, which is quick to set up and will allow us to increase our early and late season vegetable production. The catch is these structures can't support huge snow loads. Well winter decided it wasn't done and we had a exhausting night waking up every 3 hours to clear the snow accumulating quickly on the tunnel. All worth it in the end as today we were able to finish prepping beds for early spinach, carrots, greens and beetsā¦never a dull moment around here!
We've only got 5 spots left for our flexible CSA this seasonā¦reach out if you're interested.:)
