Consistency is key

What I love most about the Montreal chef community is just that: its community. They are the most passionate, loving and brilliant group of humans all striving for one thing; to serve and put smiles on all of our faces night after night. Brimming with hope, hard work and talent I can’t think of better company anywhere else out there. Oh and the other trait that I love and what led me here to these two heavenly gems of places is the chef support in our city-it’s like no other. 
Chef @chefsarymhussein sent a message to me praising chef Eric Lazaro co-owner of @buboymtl & letting me know how awesome a chef and just praise on top of praise. This message led me to wanting more. I wanted now to try @sauvagemontreal & @legrottospeakeasy - the brainchild of owner Matt Guerguerian in the heart of Old Montreal. I am not one for the late night hours, but I am happy I made the exception for this night out✨
Chef @chefsarymhussein has created a brilliant menu showcasing his myriad of ancestral roots. We taste Kuwait, Egypt and Ethiopia to name a few, making the ordinary taste extraordinary. I had a halloumi set ablaze that I mopped up with bread from @fornowest that had me swooning hard! Only to be slightly outshined by the Greek salad that tasted like nothing I had ever had before!!! There is really an ode to all the great flavour profiles of the world. This theme followed us as we entered the late part of the evening and ventured down to the speakeasy @legrottospeakeasy. The hidden door opening & key pad spoke to the giddy little girl inside me, but that is where I left her. Because once that door opened I was all woman ready to attack. The decor is fierce and so damn cool. I wanted to take the couches home with me!!! Low lights, music that you feel from the inside of your body -and mouthwatering dishes with superb cocktails followed. I am not a food writer per se, I am someone who tells you how I feel whilst eating. The high level sophistication and ex*****on of what was set before me, had me gobsmacked. I will admit I did not know where this night was going. I am zero party girl and want the chef/food moment. Well, I got it tenfold. Thank you to the awesome staff. 12/19/2024
