"The more I learned about fast fashion in the baby clothing industry, the more I knew I wanted to take part in slowing things down" — Founder, Samantha Padilla Torres
As a first time mom, the question most often asked is, how many clothes/baby items do I actually need? And while it may be difficult to know at first, more often than not, we end up with WAY too many things & clothes that go unused.
challenges the clothing industry and brings forth an alternative way to shop for your little one, by offering a minimalist capsule wardrobe.
What is a capsule wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a curated and concise collection of quality ans timeless essentials that can be styled multiple ways with one another.
They have 4 capsules in their collection, thinking of mamas in all stages. Whether you are starting from scratch or you have some pieces already, they have something for you! Plus in the restock, you'll be able to purchase certain items individually.
They use only the best materials, and partner with manufacturers that have ethical & sustainable practices.
Oh and did we mention that it is owned by a Latina mama right here in Canada? 🤍
To give you a better idea of what you need for your babe, swipe to see the illustration of what your little one's wardrobe should consist of.
And you know what? You can always add pieces along the way to suit your needs. It's better to start off minimal, than to be wasteful.
Also consider shopping second-hand for what you need. You can definitely find what you are looking for at a fraction of the price.
And lastly, when you shop local and buy clothes that are made with high quality materials, you extend the life cycle of that item, giving the opportunity for it to be donated and used by someone else. Commonly, fast fashion clothing items end up being recycled after being used by 1 child only.

Grand rising ya'll!
Today marks the beginning of Organic Week — a celebration of organic food, farming and products across the country.
Organic represents a vibrant alternative food system and an alternative option for clothing, personal care and cleaning products.
To kick-start this week, let's try swapping out cow's milk for almond milk.
Almond milk is a plant milk with a creamy texture (similar to that of regular 🥛) & nutty flavor made from almonds.
Here are some benefits:
1- It is nutritious and naturally rich in several vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin E.
2- It is low in calories.
3- One cup of almond milk contains 39 calories, which is half the amount of calories in a cup of skim milk.
4- It is dairy-free.
5- It may reduce the risk of heart disease.
6- It is high in vitamin D.
Use almond milk in:
Cereal, coffee or tea, smoothies, to make dairy-free rice pudding or ice-cream, soups, sauces & salad dressings and as a replacement in baked goods.
Shop our store for Nut Mylk bags and check out this great almond milk recipe from — link in bio 😋

It's Thursday, which means the weekend is right around the corner and you're probably thinking of what should be on your grocery list.
Grocery shopping can be quite exhausting and let's be real, we don't always have the time to plan ahead.
But in the midst of all the chaos, we can still make a difference - even if it's small.
Here is a list of essential zero waste items to keep in your car or near the door (for quick trips) at all times:
* reusable produce bags (for dried goods or fruits/vegetables)
* reusable grocery bags
* mason jars (for berries and other fruits that may stain, spices etc.)
* beeswrap (for cheese)
* bread bag ()
* glass or stainless steel bottles (for shampoo, lotions, vinegar, oils etc.)
Equally, we have compiled a short list of zerowaste/bulk grocery stores in the Montreal area - just for you!
Frenco (grocery, coffee, ready-to-eat meals) .muscade (restaurant, grocery, meals to-go)
And of course, we have to include this Toronto & Black-owned shop 🖤🌿
Happy Shopping! ✌🏾

If you want to lessen your impact on Mother Earth, there are some simple changes you can make where your moon cycle is concerned 🌙
Did you know that in 2018 over 5.8 billion tampons were purchased? And that a menstruating person will use between 5 and 15 thousand tampons and pads in their lifetime?! 🤯
Unfortunately, all of these products will end up in the landfill at the end of their life cycle.
Here are some alternatives to consider that are better for you & our 🌍 (all local):
Reusable pads/underwear
⚘
⚘ (certified b-corp!)
⚘
⚘ .care (a new Black-owned brand in Toronto!)
Menstrual cup
⚘ (Poc brand)
Organic pads
⚘
⚘
⚘ (Black-owned US brand via iHerb.ca)
⚘ (Poc brand via iHerb.ca)
Lastly a UK brand offering a reusable tampon applicator (& other menstrual goodies), now shipping to 🇨🇦! Also certified b-corp!

Since tomorrow is the beginning of Zero Waste Week, I thought this post was fitting, since Sunday is laundry day for a lot of people, and personally one of my favorite things to do!
6 Tips for Zero Waste Laundry Routine 🧺
1 - When/How often to wash
Washing less is the simplest way to cut waste in the laundry routine. Air out or steam clothes between washes to refresh your clothes for another (or even a few more) wears.
2 - Which detergent to use
Use a laundry detergent that is environmentally friendly, biodegradable and/or refillable to cut down on plastic bottles. I personally LOVE The Unscented Company products for this reason. Their products are unscented, making it the perfect option for sensitive skin, the packaging is well designed and easy to use (even my kids love refilling the bottles) and they are local & woman-owned!
They have a collection of products & accessories that are perfect for laundry day. Check them out THE UNSCENTED COMPANY®]
3 - How to remove stains
Skip the bleach & use Savon de Marseille — this is the HOLY grail 🙌🏾
4 - How to wash
When washing, use cold water because it can cut a load of laundry’s energy use by more than half. Use the water settings to ensure that you are using the right amount of water for each load. If you are using an older machine, then make sure you only run the washer when the load is full. Fun fact, if your clothes have been washed many times over, you may find they no longer need to be separated into lights and darks to be washed.
5 - How to dry
Although not possible all-year round or for those with allergies, the most sustainable choice is to hang dry your clothes outside. Of course, there is also the possibility to hang dry inside, as long as the room is not damp. Otherwise, dry on low heat.
6 - How to soften your clothes
To avoid static & to replace fabric softener, consider using wool dryer balls (also sold on THE UNSCENTED COMPANY®]). They are made from natural fibers and can be reused for years. For those who like a little scent, add a few drops of essential oils to your dryer balls. Try eucalyptus & lavender for a spa-like aroma.
Leave your tips in the comments :)
Happy Sunday! ☀️
