📸 Last Saturday, during our practice, our teacher Diego Cruz Triana entrusted me with my instrument, the bass surdo, and David with the caixa 💓
It was a powerful, symbolic moment, like being told, “Here’s your voice in the circle.”

And yesterday, we went to cheer for our school Ikuma Syé, performing an outdoor show in downtown Montreal 🔥
We’re not on stage yet, but we could feel every heartbeat of the drums deep inside.
We’ve been practicing for almost a month now, with one clear goal:
👉 to one day join this amazing percussion family.

The bass surdo is the heartbeat of the Earth 🌍

Frequency: 50–80 Hz,  a deep sound you feel more than you hear.

It resonates with the root chakra (Muladhara), bringing grounding and stability.

It carries the energy of Mother Earth, saying: “Breathe, you are supported.”

The caixa is the mental and collective pulse 💨

Frequency: 200–500 Hz, bright and focused.

It vibrates through the throat and third-eye chakras, guiding rhythm and clarity.

It carries the energy of air, communication, and direction.

💫 Together, the surdo and the caixa form the union of body and mind, Earth and Air, feminine grounding and masculine rhythm, the heartbeat of the collective fire 🔥
