While many cities are trying to promote healthier food choices, walkable communities, and stronger local businesses, some are celebrating a fast-food drive-thru like it is proof of good governance.
Yes, a new branch can mean jobs. Yes, business confidence matters. But let’s not pretend that the arrival of one fast-food chain automatically means lives are improving for all.
Good governance is measured by affordable food, better public markets, clean water, safer roads, reliable health services, decent jobs, and support for small local entrepreneurs.
A drive-thru is business expansion. It is not a poverty solution.
Development should feed the people, not just feed the branding.

84K TAWA: PUBLIC REACTION BA O PUBLIC REJECTION?
84K laughs. That is not just reaction. That is a message.

THE LAST WALK OF KIKO BARZAGA IN THE HOUSE OF CROOKS
When a young congressman gets expelled, the House wants the public to see “discipline.”
But many Filipinos will ask the harder question: discipline for whom, and silence for whose benefit?
Kiko Barzaga may be loud, messy, and controversial. But in a chamber where billions in insertions, flood-control questions, and political favors deserve full sunlight, the speed and force used against one critic looks less like accountability and more like political housekeeping.
The people are not blind. They can see when institutions act fast against dissent but move slowly when money, power, and allies are involved.
This is not just Barzaga’s last walk.
It is another walk through the hallway of selective justice.
When the House protects its image more than the people’s money, the public has every right to call it what it looks like.
The House has officially adopted the findings and recommendations from committee report number 298 with a significant affirmative vote. Representative Varsaga has been notified of the decision.
