There’s a strange trick our minds play on us. We keep believing our real life will start later: after the next milestone, after we feel ready, after the timing is perfect. Psychologists call this the arrival fallacy: the illusion that happiness or confidence will begin somewhere in the future.

But the truth is simpler. The moment you’re waiting for isn’t coming later. It’s here, it’s now. Don’t let the concept of “later” stop you from living today.

My challenge for myself this year was to do a mini shoot for myself every month to get back into being comfortable on camera. So far I’m 2 for 2 with this mini shoot of my bridal makeup test! (The big day is in April) I’m not used to wearing so many ruffles in my everyday but it was definitely fun to play dress-up! And of course I couldn’t do it without the fabulous help & makeup by .makeupartist

Let me re-introduce myself. I’m Andrea. I’ve been a photographer for over 19 years now, and it’s honestly my life’s goal to help women feel powerful, beautiful, and confident. I’m obsessed with glamour, vintage, old Hollywood, and all the things that feel a little dramatic and timeless.

And at the same time, I’m engaged to a man who is very much a football fan, specifically the Philadelphia Eagles. Some days my life is silk robes and candlelight, and other days it’s eating junk food, watching football with my step-sons and their father, wondering about the backstories of all the football players, and how they all ended up where they are. And I absolutely love that contrast.

I’ve been putting off doing a photoshoot for myself for ages, not because I didn’t believe in it, but because I just wasn’t feeling in the mood. And yet I tell my clients all the time that you don’t wait to feel ready, you don’t wait for the perfect moment, you just do it, because you’re always grateful you did afterward.

So this is me doing exactly that, stepping in front of the camera, putting myself out there, and taking my own advice for once. My goal for 2026 is to do a mini photoshoot of myself every month, not to prove anything, but to document different versions of myself as I move through this new era of my life. What do you think my next photoshoot concept should be?
