MEMORIES OF THE JAILHOUSE/LA TERASSE
Thirty-six years ago we were playing a benefit for the hungry and homeless at Montreal's Bar La Terasse.
We were happy to play it. Apart from being a worthy cause, La Terasse had recently been taken over by our good friend Dom Castelli, who had also been our roadie for several of our Cross-Canada Tours.
This was one of the last shows before the club changed it's name to the Jailhouse Rock.
With the name change came renovations. The stage was moved from the front of the club to the back. That was important coz the drummer no longer had his back against the front window, which could get a little breezy in the Winter.
It also got an upgraded sound system and (always important) an upgraded bar.
The Jailhouse quickly became a pillar of the Montreal Punk Scene and stayed that way for more than a decade. Perfect size, great management and cool location all contributed to its success.
It would host thousands of shows. Those included several of our record launches and the first string of our New Years Eve shows. We also got to play there with touring bands like Vice Squad and Peter and the Test Tube Babies.
Always a great show. Always fun. It is sorely missed.

That time our record launch for "It's Never Too Late to Annoy Your Parents" got compared to Montreal's 'Marriage of the Century' on the front page of the Entertainment section of the Montreal Gazette.
Yeah, it wasn't the marriage of any century anywhere, but it was a funny comparison.

Made it home before noon. I'm so happy that I actually managed to crack a smile for the photo.
Now gearing up for shows in Cornwall next weekend, Trois-Rivières and Quebec City the weekend after and southern Ontario after that.

Thanks Sherbrooke! That was a great way to start off our 50 shows this year. Next stop: Cornwall (next Saturday).
