• Solid office view to start the week! Yesterday I had the opportunity of following a group of athletes on the golf course offering tips, strategies and tools to develop their mental performance.
• I will never take those moments for granted! 1% better everyday!

• Another Jakub Dobes video! The current #1 goalie for the has been on a tear since the start if the post season. One aspect that sets him apart, his mindset.
• Dobes does a few things to separate himself from the competition:
🕹️ Emotional but always calm and in control
🧠 Outcome visualisation
📝 Journaling and daily affirmations
💬 Aware of his thoughts and self-talk
• Most importantly, he knows how important this aspect of the game truly is!

• It feels like it’s more than hockey …
• Incredible article that I read this morning from the Montreal Gazette about the Montreal Canadiens. Behind their success, there is an explanation from organizational and performance psychology.
• They’ve created an environment that fosters resilience, helping each other up and being accountable. Everyone is in it for the success of the team. No personal agenda.
• From the outside, you can tell there’s been a shift in the culture of this team. And as a CMPC watching this, it feels awesome to see how these concepts are slowly becoming CRUCIAL for success in sports.

• Having challenging or negative thoughts is normal. In order to perform, it’s tough to imagine that those thoughts are helpful.
• The challenge here becomes ➡️ how long do you stay in this mental state when it happens to you?
• Mental skills such as resetting, reframing and self-talk can help in those situations. There’s one consensus here, you have to DO something about it!

• This came up in a session this week. An athlete was dealing with uncertainty, elements about their team. Roles. What’s next.
But their focus?
👉 Other athletes
👉 What others were doing
👉 Things outside their control
And slowly they started losing themselves.
They forgot:
• What they control
• What they bring
• What actually moves them forward
• So I showed them a simple reminder. When your attention goes outward, your performance goes down.
• Because the more you focus on others. The less you invest in becoming the best version of yourself.
• The shift is simple (not easy). Bring it back to YOU. Always.
• Your habits
• Your preparation
• Your attitude
• Your response
• Control what you can. Dominate what’s yours. Everything else? Noise.
