One of my goals isn’t simply to build a good life in Canada.

I want to build a life that connects Canada and Jamaica. 🇨🇦🤝🏾🇯🇲

A solid life here.

Something meaningful back home.

The ability to travel between both.

Family.

Options.

Freedom to enjoy what I love about both places.

That’s part of the bigger picture behind what I’m building.

Moving to another country gave me opportunities I’m extremely grateful for. 🙏🏾

But success to me doesn’t mean forgetting where I came from.

If anything, I want the opportunities I’ve gained here to eventually help me build even more back home.

That’s the vision.

Still a long way to go.

But at least I know what I’m building toward. 💫

Question for my fellow immigrants 🇯🇲🌎

If money wasn’t an issue and you could build ONE thing back in your home country while still living abroad…

What would you build?

A house?

Rental property?

Business?

Farm?

Something for your family?

After the conversation I had with my uncle this week, I’ve been thinking about this way more than usual 😂

I’d definitely want property back home in Jamaica.

What would yours be? 👀

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.

There is almost always something we can do to improve a situation.

It might not fix everything tomorrow.

It might not even be the solution we originally expected.

But nothing changes if nothing changes.

If the current approach isn’t working, look for another one.

If the current skillset isn’t enough, learn.

If there’s a problem, start looking for solutions.

If there’s something you want to build, start building.

That’s something I’m trying to live by more myself.

I don’t want to spend years complaining about a situation while making the exact same moves that keep me there.

Small consistent moves still count. 💫

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

What’s the required starting amount? 💰

This is another question I get quite a bit, and the answer is pretty simple.

There isn’t one set amount that everyone has to start with.

There are different starting options available, so you can choose the level that makes the most sense for your current situation, goals and pace.

There’s no pressure to start at the highest level either. The idea is to understand the options first, decide what feels comfortable, and get the guidance you need throughout the setup process. 🙌🏾

Started running again this week 🏃🏾‍♂️

I stopped doing it as much because I figured playing soccer regularly would basically give me the same benefits.

My stamina said otherwise. 😂

I’ve been getting tired way too quickly during games, plus I’ve been slacking on stretching and my joints have started reminding me that I’m not invincible 🤣

So I’m changing the approach.

More running.

More cardio.

More stretching.

Still playing soccer of course ⚽😂

Sometimes realizing something isn’t working doesn’t mean the goal needs to change.

Sometimes the approach does.

Let’s see how the stamina looks in a few weeks. 👀

I used to think security meant finding a good job and holding onto it.

My perspective has changed.

A job can absolutely provide stability.

But I’ve also seen how quickly circumstances can change, and the job market isn’t always easy.

So these days, security means something slightly different to me.

It means options.

Savings.

Skills.

Relationships.

And something I’m building for myself alongside my employment.

There are plenty of ways someone can create more options. Mine happens to be a digital business.

The important part isn’t copying what I’m doing.

It’s asking:

What am I building that gives future me more choices?

💭 How long can “I’m just busy right now” really last?

One busy week turns into a busy month.

Then suddenly, working late, picking up overtime, or juggling two jobs just becomes normal.

I know that feeling because I’ve lived it.

At some point, I realized I didn’t necessarily need another job. I needed to learn how to build something that could work around the life I already had. 💻

I had a conversation with my uncle recently that really changed my perspective. 💭

He moved to the US and worked at Publix as a regular sales associate.

Over time, he used what he was earning there to build a villa back home in Jamaica that now generates income for him. 🇯🇲

And I remember thinking…

Why have I been looking at Canada and Jamaica like I have to choose one?

I can build a solid life here while also working toward building something back home.

That’s actually part of what I want the business I’m building now to eventually help me accomplish.

Canada is where I’m building my life right now. 🇨🇦

But Jamaica will always be home. 🇯🇲

And my uncle reminded me that sometimes the opportunity you find abroad can help you build something even bigger back home.

That conversation definitely gave me something to think about.
