Stage Directors U.K., is the professional trade organisation for stage and movement directors, and choreographers. The industry isn’t static, neither are we.
At the heart of what we do, alongside other unions and trade organisations, is play a key role in negotiating the contracts of stage directors in the UK. Advocating, campaigning for better rights and promoting the interests of stage directors is what drives us, but we are so much more. We provide mentoring, advice, host social events and support members in various ways. Our members are also presented with opportunities to expand their skills, knowledge and professional network. As we come out of the most devastating time for theatre, our industry is facing huge change and challenges. And yet, there is so much opportunity. We believe it is more important than ever that we stand together, not only to make a better present, but also a better future for those who have yet to enter the industry, to ensure that they will inherit a stronger and fairer profession. We are determined to continue the work that was begun over eight years ago, and to expand what we do, and how we do it. SDUK has quickly become integral to the director identity of many because it is an organisation by directors for directors. Just as an actor wouldn’t imagine not being a member of Equity, we want directors to have the same sense of identity and pride in their SDUK membership. We hope you will join us, as we continue the work of strengthening our profession and fighting on behalf of all directors.
