Creative Arts Explorer Hello. I'm Susan, a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Canada. I thrive on using my imagination, and love getting my hands messy.

I am in the business of encouraging out-of-the-box thinking, one creative art project at a time. I create with a variety of media such as paint, fabric, recycled materials, natural fibers and socks. Yes socks! You wouldn't believe what you can create with a pair of socks, it's incredible. I'm also a writer and self-published author. I survive on coffee, humor and cursy words. Now, don't be offende

UPDATE:

Being accepted into the creative arts industry, (let alone society,) has been a never-ending struggle for me. I’ve always battled with varying degrees of anxiety and self-doubt, because I've never quite fit in anywhere. Not in my business pursuits or personal life. I've always been on the other side of the window, looking in. Truth be told, I find trying to fit in exhausting. Debilitating.

I understand, it can be confusing. What is she - a writer, a painter, a floral designer, a crafter, a kitchen designer, an art instructor? Trying to figure that out has been a lifelong journey. I don't know myself. So, I can’t really expect others to know.

Now in my 65th year, I’ve started pondering, “why”. Why can't I pursue all these creative outlets? Why do I have to be "pigeonholed" to just one medium. Why can't I create just for the pleasure of creating?

My interests and capabilities are varied. But, at the heart of everything I create, is the thrill of designing. To take nothing but an idea, a vision and bring it to fruition is intoxicating. Enjoyable. My happy place. Whether it is with art supplies or a keyboard.

I am a prolific explorer of the arts and a master of none. I create for the experience not perfection. I am a purveyor of creativity, and this is my journey.

A vase by any other name is still a vase when you use it for floral designing.

1- Dollar Tree deer ornament
2 - Recycled ceramic pot that once held a tropical plant
3- Antique butter dish
4- Wine Decanter
5- Coffee mug

🎄Holiday fun with a fluted vase. 🎁

When designing with a fluted vase, I arrange the flowers in a small plastic container that is packed with oasis. The container fits in the mouth of the vase perfectly. This way I can add drama/intrigue to the arrangement by adding ornaments and fairy-lights to the stem of the vase. I like this look better then seeing the stems of the flowers.

Which look do you like better?
