Teeny Snoots Rat Rescue

What an incredible birthday weekend 🥰💝 Camping with one of my best friends, puppy and my elderly ratties, and special time with my mom. This is Meadow's very first time camping! Remi and Shagbark aren't doing well overall and this will likely be our last few days together, so they came with us for the trip. They've been on their first hike in their special, secure carrier, had dinner at the picnic table, and are bundled up fast asleep in the tent. They are both very adventurous girls and I knew they would do well. There are a LOT, if not most, rats I wouldn't do this with but there's a handful that have had outside time and loved it. Shagbark has HLD so the sights and smells today are special to her. Much better than being confined to one level of her enclosure. Remi loves all adventures and has been exploring the tent. Spice would've loved being here. So would Toffee, Daisy and Tulip 😔 In memory of my special Tulip and Jalapeno, my friend painted me the most gorgeous paintings ❤️

Teeny Snoots is in the middle of a red tornado warning, complete with "get in the basement" and "keep away from windows". So, naturally, Remi is prioritizing and my cheese snack is suddenly distributed somewhere within the couch 🤦‍♀️🧀

To all of our southwestern Ontario snoots, be safe!

It's a a quiet, sleepy day for Harlow 💤 Harlow has what seems like a pituitary tumor but is not responding to medication. Bromocriptine doesn't work on all types of PT and it's impossible to know if it's that part of her brain that's troubled. She's confused, doesn't know how to eat solids, is much more sedate, and has a small mammary mass that's stopped growing, but she's not suffering. She's out in the blankets with me and her sisters using her mass as a cushion, loving her soft foods and happy to receive many snuggles (as much as a girl rat will accept). But she could decide any day that she's done and I will respect that. We can't keep them with us just to have them here. Luckily, PT isn't painful and is often harder on us. But when they stop enjoying food and friends, it's time to visit the vet to help them cross ❤️

Dust Bunny says he is not coming out from under his couch blankets until the weather stays warm, but the sweet little cherub has won the heart of his very own sponsor who has sponsored his neuter. Ever since his lumpectomy, Dust hasn't wanted to be with his brothers but he hates being alone. He spends a lot of time with me but he really needs rat time. A neuter will change his life. He will be so much happier with sisters. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of his life. Wish him luck with his surgery!

💞 Welcome to Teeny Snoots, Smokey and Moo 🐭Smokey and Moo had a family but "the kids lost interest" so they were going to feed the girls to their snake or give them to someone to feed to a piranha. A good friend of Teeny Snoots quickly picked them up and brought them here, where they will never be threatened with being fed to another animal. When they arrived, they were terrified. So much so that Moo would scream when looked at. But look at them now! They are out climbing and exploring, even when I'm watching them 🥰 They are currently in their little enclosure while they settle in and will soon meet their new mouse sisters. Welcome, baby girls!
