Rather extreme solder failure on a Crate V1512 amp. This is common, but not usually so bad that the socket is nearly falling out. Due to age, minimal solder application in production and pressure from the tube retaininer spring.

Deep inside the guts of a Shaw organ. These are incredible instruments, built and designed by Neil Shaw of Burlington, ON. With a pipe organ, every note you hear is speaking from an individual pipe, so the sound is coming at you from all over the space. Electronic organs have limitations due to space and cost. One speaker per tone is not viable. A typical mid level church organ will have 5 amp channels and speakers, with several voices sharing channels.
Neil Shaw, in an effort to provide better harmonic separation, used dozens of amplifier channels each with a single speaker. The organ was designed in such a way that any one speaker would usually not be producing more than one note at a time. The result is one of the closest approximations of the “pipe organ experience “ possible.
These are a bear to work on, but incredibly satisfying. I’m absolutely in awe of Mr.Shaw, his genius and his instruments.

Making final bias and burn-in adjustments on a one owner 1966 Fender Bassman AA864. One of the best sounding amps ever made. Just plug in a Les Paul, crank it up and go. Sonic heaven.
