Difficult pop with emo-punk tendencies Marigold enjoys the sweatiest of the sweatiest live shows, made up of rowdy pop-punk singalongs and mosh-pits.
Marigold is a power-pop-punk outfit from Hamilton/Mississauga, Ontario, Canada that combines the savory rhythm and percussion section of Bassist Carlos Falla and Drummer Ellixs Tulagan with relatable lyrics and wistful guitar melodies from Guitarist and Lead Singer Josh Fortin. Understanding the importance of that energy maintaining the same pace on record, they convey this on their latest single,
"Trying," a song about a backstabbing friend. Originally a four-piece formed in late 2015 as a four-piece, Marigold later settled on a three-piece lineup in late 2016 and began to play shows around Southern Ontario, releasing two DIY demos on Bandcamp. Drawing comparisons to Blink-182 and Billy Talent, they settled upon a sound combining the influence of mid 2000's pop-punk with modern emo bands such as The Menzingers, The Hotelier, and The Wonder Years. A strong local following and buzz led them to play their biggest show to date in November 2016 at Blackout Festival in Brantford, Ontario with bands such as emo-legends Hawthorne Heights and local punk outfit Coldfront. Marigold's Debut EP, "Time of Death" is set to release on August 18, 2017, an album about "the cyclical nature of life that ends with death, and starts again, as seen through our friendships, our careers, and our relationships," as they ride into 2018 playing shows throughout Ontario and beyond, and wrapping up completion of their debut LP.
