Capping off a backcountry trip in Algonquin with some new moon stargazing and an added twist to keep me on my toes ⚠️

With a cause that means does so much good for animals in need, and one that means so much to me, I really am thankful to be entering another year working with .

I’d also like you to meet Essen!

“I’ve been waiting for my family to come along since February. I’m not quite sure what the delay is but I’m being patient and I know my humans will feel so lucky when they finally find me! I’m a big sweetheart and always start my day with snuggles in bed with foster mom! I’m a very friendly girl and enjoy meeting new humans. I prefer humans over dogs and would be a great family dog for a home with older kids. I am so smart and have learned so many new skills because of my awesome foster mom. I’ve also recently discovered that I am an excellent cottage buddy and love to swim!”

Please share her story and let’s help find this young lady her forever home! 🐶

A full moon lights up the sky in Algonquin on completely still night, except for the two barred owls calling to each other from either side of the lake.

No one else wanted to stay up and enjoy the infinite stream of bug bites without the breeze 🤷‍♂️

Blue Heron leisurely hunting the Vancouver shoreline, masking its silhouette in the bright afternoon sunshine beaming down from above.

Did you know? Wading bird species often stand on one leg for several reasons, including: heat regulation, energy conservation, comfort, and possibly to present as less conspicuous to prey.

Ursus Americanus

It’s easy to see much of ourselves in our ‘brother across the river.’ A kinship rooted in the connection to our not so distant past, respecting and learning from one another for thousands of years.

Stand Still. The forest knows where you are. You must let it find you.✌️

“Lost” by David Wagoner is a piece I’ve thought about a lot lately. I’m often reminded of it when day dreaming of far away, wild places, or when I recognize I’m standing amongst one of the very scenes or moments he was able to capture so well. The words carry a peaceful stillness, a guideline for immersion, a reminder to be present and recognize the depth of life around us when we walk amongst the trees.
