I do love a cask strength or high proof whisky, however, sometimes it just doesn't hit the palate right for me.

This 6th batch of Tamdhu's Batch Stength, which is bottled at 56.8%, was one of those for me that didn't work. I found it to be hot and with not too much going on in the flavour department.

Whenever I run into a whisky like this, the first thing I do is grab some water to mess around with the proof. In many cases, I can find a flavour sweet spot.

Do you add water to your whisky, high proof or not, to explore the changes it can have on your drinking experience?

I'm a huge fan of the smokey stuff, like this Octomore that has a ppm level of 194. It wasn't always that way, but the flavours and the experience kept me coming back for more until I loved it.
