We’re in your corner. 🥊

Last night, Apex Core Protection was proud to support Fight League Atlantic 26 at Hector Arena in Pictou County.

Our team was on site supporting access control, fighter movement and crowd safety while the action unfolded in the cage and on pay-per-view. Seeing the Apex logo on the corner of the cage was a pretty special moment for us.

To our team: thank you for showing up prepared and having each other’s backs. And to Fight League Atlantic: thank you for trusting Apex to be part of fight night.

In your corner. On your team. No Ego. Just Apex.

2027 EVENTS ARE ALREADY TAKING SHAPE. IS YOUR SECURITY PLAN?

Great events don’t happen by accident—and neither does great event security.

Apex Core Protection is now booking 2027 event security across Atlantic Canada, working with organizers to build security operations around the event itself: the venue, attendance, alcohol service, access points, crowd movement, performers, vendors and the unexpected moments that inevitably come with bringing thousands of people together.

From community celebrations and concerts to festivals, sporting events and large-scale productions, our approach goes beyond putting guards at a gate.

We plan. We communicate. We deploy with purpose.

Our event teams can support crowd safety, access control, ID and bag checks, licensed areas, stage and backstage security, roaming teams, incident response, supervisory leadership and complete event-specific security planning.

Because the best security presence isn't the loudest one in the room.

It's the one that keeps the event moving.

Strong people should be able to build real careers in security.

Apex Core Protection may be a newer company, but we are growing quickly and with growth comes opportunity.

We don’t believe in hiring people simply to fill shifts. We believe in developing talent, recognizing potential and creating opportunities for our people to grow alongside the company.

At Apex, that means:

• Compensation above industry standards
• Opportunities to advance into leadership and specialized roles
• A collaborative culture where your voice is heard
• Direct involvement in shaping the future of the company
• A team that values professionalism, accountability and ambition

We’re building something meaningful—and we want strong people helping us build it.

Security is a people business before it’s a protection business.

We talk a lot in this industry about training, procedures, response, equipment and experience.

All of it matters.

But before any of that works, people have to trust the person wearing the uniform.

A strong security professional knows how to read a room before reacting to it. How to communicate before escalating. How to make someone feel safe without making them feel controlled. And how to build relationships with clients, staff, guests and the communities we work in.

At Apex Core Protection, we’re building our company around that philosophy.

We don’t just want capable guards.

We want good humans who happen to be exceptional protectors.

Because professionalism creates confidence.
Communication prevents problems.
Familiar faces build trust.
And great people build great security teams.

Security may be the service we provide.
People are the business we’re actually in.

Built to Protect. Powered by People.

EXECUTIVE & RESIDENTIAL PROTECTION

Protection should never feel intrusive.
It should feel prepared.

Apex Core Protection provides discreet Executive & Residential Protection for individuals, families, executives and private properties throughout HRM and beyond.

From controlled access and residential security to executive movements and close protection, our approach is built around one principle:

Be present when needed. Invisible when not. Ready always.

Professional presence. Situational awareness. Confidentiality. Experienced personnel.

Because protecting what matters most requires more than someone standing at a door — it requires the right person standing there.

No Ego. Just Apex.

WHAT SHOULD A PROTECTOR BE WORTH?

The security industry needs to have an uncomfortable conversation about money.

Not just what clients pay — what the people actually standing the post get paid.

Security professionals work nights, weekends, holidays, extreme weather and long shifts. They protect people, property, businesses and events while responding to situations most people actively try to avoid.

Yet in many markets, security wages remain incredibly close to minimum wage.

According to Government of Canada Job Bank data, median security guard wages are approximately:

🇨🇦 — $17.00/hr
🇨🇦 — $18.00/hr
🇨🇦 — $20.00/hr
🇨🇦 — $21.56/hr

Québec has taken things further. Its security guard decree establishes minimum compensation specifically for covered workers in the industry, with current base rates of approximately $20.60–$20.85/hr, before applicable premiums.

Why does that matter?

Because shouldn’t become the weapon companies use to undercut each other for contracts.

When security gets squeezed to the lowest possible price, something eventually gives:

Wages. Training. Equipment. Supervision. Retention. And ultimately — quality.

Running a professional security company isn’t cheap. There is licensing, insurance, WCB, payroll costs, recruitment, training, uniforms, radios, vehicles, technology, supervision and administration.

There needs to be enough room in a contract to build a sustainable company AND pay the person protecting the client properly.

At Apex Core Protection, we do not pay minimum wage.

We strive to pay above industry standards because I cannot morally ask someone to carry the responsibility of protecting another person’s people, property or business while knowingly paying them a wage they cannot reasonably live on.

For perspective, Halifax’s latest calculated is approximately $29.40/hour.

That’s a massive gap.

And no, security companies can’t simply start paying everyone $29.40 tomorrow without the economics of the contracts changing too.

Clients have to be part of this conversation.

Fuel costs more. Housing costs more. Insurance costs more. Equipment costs more. Labour costs more.

So why is security still expected to stay cheap?

I’ve watched this industry race to the bottom.

One company knocks $2 off. Another knocks off another $2. Someone eventually wins the contract — but did the client actually win?

You cannot demand experienced, trained, reliable, professional security personnel while removing the financial ability to recruit and retain them.

At Apex, growth at any cost isn’t growth we’re interested in.

We will turn business down before accepting a contract that forces us to compromise our people or our standards.

Because I want the person protecting your operation to be trained, rested, equipped, proud of their uniform and focused on your safety — not wondering how they’re buying groceries after their shift.

Security isn’t simply an insurance requirement at the bottom of your budget.

We are part of your operation.

We protect your people.
Your reputation.
Your property.
Your assets.
Your ability to keep operating when something goes wrong.

So perhaps Canada needs a bigger conversation:

Should more provinces establish minimum compensation standards for licensed security professionals?

And instead of clients only asking:

“What’s your hourly rate?”

Maybe we should start asking:

“What does that rate allow you to invest in the person you’re sending to protect us?”

Charge responsibly.
Pay responsibly.
Train relentlessly.
Raise the standard.

Let’s stop racing to the bottom and start raising the bar together.

WHO ARE YOU REALLY HIRING TO PROTECT YOUR EVENT?

When an event runs safely, most people never see the planning, positioning, communication, and quick decisions happening behind the scenes.

But when security fails, everyone notices.

Choosing a security provider shouldn’t begin and end with an hourly rate—or with whoever gives the best sales pitch. You’re trusting that company with your patrons, employees, reputation, and ability to respond when something goes wrong.

Before signing a contract, do your homework.

1. Look at the leadership.

Do the people leading the company—and selling its services—have real experience in the type of security you need?

Event security, close protection, industrial security, healthcare security, and labor disruption are not interchangeable. Ask what the leadership team has personally done, where they’ve worked, and whether they understand your environment beyond what appears in a proposal.

2. Verify the company and its personnel are properly licensed.

Ask to see the company’s current security agency license's and confirm that the guards assigned to your site hold the required individual license's. Professional providers should welcome this question.

3. Confirm insurance and WCB coverage.

Request proof of commercial liability insurance and a current WCB clearance letter. If something happens on your property, missing or inadequate coverage can quickly become your problem too.

4. Ask about the actual team—not just the company.

Who will supervise your event? How experienced are the people being assigned? Are they employees, subcontractors, or last-minute names pulled together to fill a schedule?

A company’s marketing may win the contract, but its people will determine the outcome.

5. Ask how they plan to protect your event.

A credible provider should want to understand your venue, attendance, alcohol service, access points, emergency procedures, crowd dynamics, and areas of elevated risk.

If the entire security plan is “we’ll send some guards,” keep looking.

6. Ask about communication and accountability.

Who is your point of contact? How are incidents documented? What is the escalation process? Who can make decisions when conditions change?

Security without communication is simply a uniform standing in a room.

7. Check references and reputation.

Speak with clients who have hired the company for similar work. Look beyond polished social media and ask how the provider performed under pressure, handled problems, and followed through after the event.

8. Don’t automatically choose the lowest price.

A low rate can reflect inexperienced personnel, inadequate supervision, poor preparation, or corners being cut somewhere you cannot see.

The right question isn’t simply, “What does security cost?”

It’s: “What level of risk am I willing to accept?”

Your security provider should be more than a vendor. They should be an experienced extension of your operation—prepared to protect your people, support your event, and safeguard the reputation you worked hard to build.

Choose carefully. Ask questions. Verify the answers.

Because good enough isn’t safe enough.

MEET THE CORE

Behind every well-protected event is a team that knows how to move, communicate, and respond together.

We are proud to work alongside a group of seasoned event security professionals—many of whom our owner has worked with for nearly a decade.

In event security, that history matters.

After years of working side by side, you learn each person’s strengths, instincts, and communication style. You know who thrives at the stage, who commands the gate, who can calmly de-escalate a tense situation, and who steps forward when the pressure rises.

That trust isn’t created on event day. It’s earned through long shifts, demanding crowds, unpredictable moments, and years of having one another’s backs.

We’ve learned together. We’ve grown together. And now, we’re proud to continue building something even stronger together at Apex.

A decade of teamwork behind us. Our strongest events still ahead.

Looking for familiar faces and experienced security professionals you can trust to protect your next event?

Or perhaps you’re an experienced professional looking for more than just another security job. Come grow with a team built on experience, trust, and always having one another’s backs.

Whether you’re looking to hire Apex or become part of it, we’d love to hear from you.

Familiar Faces Matter.

COMMUNITY SECURITY.

Some of our strongest relationships have been built in the communities we return to year after year.

For Apex, community security is about more than showing up in uniform.

It’s about knowing the event. Knowing the people. Understanding the community. It’s recognizing familiar faces, building relationships with organizers, volunteers, vendors and guests — and becoming a trusted part of the event itself.

We believe the best security teams are visible, approachable and prepared. Professional enough to take control when it matters, and human enough to know that not every situation needs to become a confrontation.

From exhibitions and festivals to concerts and community celebrations, we’re proud to protect the places where people come together.

Because strong communities deserve security teams that understand them.
