And so the hatching begins!! My favourite time is when I get to snuggle the fluffy baby chicks!

How many eggs do we think are actually going to hatch? 🐣

Every summer seems to go by a little faster than the last.

This year, instead of filling our calendar with expensive plans, we decided to fill our days with meaningful ones.

As a family, we sat down and created our own summer bucket list—full of simple adventures, time outdoors, new experiences, and memories we hope our kids will carry with them long after summer ends.

As I continue learning about wellness, I’m realizing it’s about so much more than what we eat. It’s also about slowing down, spending time together, getting outside, trying new things, and making space for joy.

Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing our adventures as we check them off one by one.

🌼 The chamomile didn’t get the picture-perfect morning harvest it deserved.

In a perfect world, I would have picked these blooms this morning after the dew had dried. But I don’t live in that world.

I’m a mom of three, spend most evenings running between sports, and work full-time at a job I love. So instead, a bug-infested 9:00 pm harvest was squeezed in before I missed my window altogether.

Only about half the patch got picked tonight before the mosquitoes won the battle. The rest will wait until tomorrow.

Thankfully, this self-seeded chamomile seems determined to thrive despite my less-than-perfect harvesting schedule. 💛

🌼 Sometimes the best surprises happen in the garden when you least expect them.

After neglecting my raised beds for far too long this spring, I finally took a walk through them today and discovered this beautiful patch of chamomile waiting for me. No planning, no effort, no tending—just hundreds of cheerful little blooms thriving all on their own.

A good reminder that nature has a way of carrying on, even when life gets busy. Now to harvest some tea and appreciate this unexpected gift from the garden. 💛

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little short on motivation, so this was exactly what I needed today. 🍓❤️

There’s something pretty special about picking the very first strawberries from a patch you planted yourself. After all the planning, planting, watering, and waiting, seeing those bright red berries ready to harvest makes it all worth it.

A small harvest, but a big reminder that good things take time. 🌱

🐣 Homestead Update – Day 2 🐣

We’re taking a chance on a batch of eggs that were under one of our broody hens. When the kids collected eggs yesterday, they discovered she’d left the nest, but the eggs were still warm, so we quickly got them into the incubator and are hoping we acted in time! 🤞

Since the incubator had room, we added a few extra eggs just to see what happens. Around here, a little faith and a lot of patience go a long way. ❤️

Meanwhile, our other broody hen is still fiercely guarding her nest and letting everyone know those eggs are off-limits! 🐔

Now we wait, watch, and hope that before long we’ll be hearing the sound of tiny peeps in the coop. 🐣

Slow start or not, the garden is finally starting to wake up 🌱
The garlic is standing tall, the rhubarb is thriving, and our newly planted strawberry patch is settling in nicely. Northern gardening always teaches patience, but seeing those first signs of growth makes it all worth it 🌿🍓

Next up — getting the seeds into the ground. We’ve still got a few cool nights in the forecast, so the plants will stay tucked away a little longer yet. One step at a time and summer will be here before we know it ☀️
