HADES Rescue is working overtime to save two huskies at risk, but before they can safely enter rescue we need to raise funds for their veterinary care and food.

🚨URGENT: Mika Scheduled For Euthanasia June 28th

Over the past few days, HADES Rescue made the decision to step up for Kaija, a husky facing euthanasia.

Now, we have been contacted about another husky facing euthanasia on June 28th.

The heartbreaking reality is that rescue is not limited by foster homes right now. Our community is incredible, and we know foster offers would likely come forward.

Our biggest obstacle is funding.

Every dog we save requires veterinary care, vaccinations, food, supplies, transportation, and often additional medical expenses. While our commitment to helping dogs is unwavering, we must ensure we can responsibly provide the care they deserve.

Right now, HADES Rescue urgently needs donations and fundraising support to:
🐾 Cover Kaija’s pre-intake medical expenses
🐾 Raise the emergency funds needed to save this second husky
🐾 Ensure both dogs receive the care and safety they deserve

We don’t want to turn away a dog whose life is hanging in the balance because of a lack of funds.

Just days ago, Kaija’s future looked heartbreaking.

This sweet 11-year-old senior’s owner passed away and she was only days away from euthanasia before we stepped in.

The good news? ❤️

When we put out an urgent call for help, our community showed up. Kaija now has a loving foster home waiting for her.

The final hurdle is funding.

Before we can intake Kaija, we need to raise the funds to cover her overdue vaccines and arthritis medication so she can be comfortable, safe, and properly cared for.

Today HADES Rescue had the privilege of attending Global Pet Foods’ Customer Appreciation Day, and we had an amazing time connecting with our community.

Eclipse made countless new doggy and human friends, including a few fellow huskies, and was an incredible ambassador for rescue dogs everywhere. We met so many kind, supportive people, shared our mission, and enjoyed seeing the community come together to celebrate their love of animals.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without stocking up on some treats for our rescue pups, and thanks to the event’s free pup cups, every one of our dogs got a special treat of their own!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, learn about our rescue, share kind words, or support our work. Days like today remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a compassionate community.

We are beyond grateful to share that, thanks to the incredible support of our community, Kaija will not be euthanized.

Over the last 24 hours, so many people stepped forward to offer help, fostering, transportation support, donations, and encouragement. Because of that collective effort, this sweet senior husky now has a chance at the future she deserves.

We are currently reviewing foster applications, finalizing surrender paperwork, and coordinating transportation from Welland to Cambridge. There are still details to work through, but the most important thing is this:

Kaija is safe!

🚨🚨Urgent Foster Home Needed: Female Husky Scheduled for Euthanasia Tuesday 🚨🚨

We’ve been contacted this weekend about a husky in urgent need of rescue who is at risk of being euthanized.

This husky’s owner has passed away, and the neighbours currently caring for her are planning to euthanize by Tuesday if a placement cannot be found.

Right now, we are at full capacity. Our founder is already caring for three rescue dogs in her home, and under by-law limits, we cannot take in any more.

The only thing standing between this dog and safety is a foster home.

If you are able to temporarily open your home — you could quite literally save a life.

Fostering is what allows us to say “yes” when emergency calls like this come in. Without fosters, we cannot act in time.
