Sometimes ADHD paralysis isn't about laziness.
Your brain is already mentally trying to solve step 12 before you've even started step 1.
The task suddenly feels bigger, heavier, and more complicated than it actually is.
What started as one assignment, one email, or one task quickly becomes dozens of interconnected decisions, possibilities, and outcomes.
And sometimes that's the moment your brain freezes.
When I'm supporting students, we slow things down enough to find step 1, figure out what actually needs to be done, and create a clear way forward.
Sometimes ADHD paralysis isn’t about laziness.
Your brain is already mentally trying to solve step 12 before you’ve even started step 1.
The task suddenly feels way bigger, heavier, and more complicated than it actually is.
And you have now turned it into 47 interconnected problems, possibilities, decisions, and outcomes…
…and your brain freezes before you even begin.
This is something I help students work through all the time.
ADHD hyperfocus is a very real thing — and a very easy trap to fall into 😅
What started with one community aquarium 🐠 has somehow turned into three... and I’m already daydreaming about a fourth species-focused tank 🫠
It always starts with “just learning the basics” about pea puffers... 🐡
..and somehow turns into hours of research about aquarium ecosystems 🌿 aquatic plants, substrates, water parameters, specialized diets, tank mate compatibility, and approximately 400 tabs open on my computer (and in my brain) at once 🤯
Students don’t fall behind all at once.
It usually starts with one assignment.
They miss it— tell themselves they’ll catch up later…
But there’s no system for when or how.
So it sits.
Then another assignment comes in. Then another.
Now they’re juggling current work and unfinished work.
That’s when it starts to feel overwhelming.
That’s the moment they start falling behind.
When a student gets a grade that doesn’t match how hard they worked… it doesn’t just feel disappointing.
It can trigger a full shutdown.
The spiral. The self-doubt. The “I shouldn’t even be here” thoughts.
And from the outside, it can look like avoidance.
But internally? It’s overwhelm.
This is something many students with ADHD experience— often called rejection sensitivity dysphoria (RSD).
Not an overreaction. Not being “too sensitive.” A nervous system response.
If this hits—you're not the only one.
If you’re looking for support, I help students move forward—even when they feel stuck like this.

We don’t have a motivation problem. We have a design problem.
Some students aren’t struggling because they can’t learn— they’re struggling because the environment doesn’t fit how they learn.
When we change the design, everything shifts.
If this resonates, I support students in building systems that actually work for them.

ADHD time math never quite adds up.
It’s not just losing track of time…
it’s not feeling it.
If this hits, you’re not the only one.

This is going to be a great event 🏁
Such an incredible opportunity for these students.

Most students think they know how to study.
But what they’re actually doing is:
re-reading
highlighting
“going over” notes
It feels productive…
but it doesn’t build real recall.
What actually works: → practice recall (self-testing)
→ spaced repetition
(and yes—taking breaks and getting enough sleep matters too)
🎯 If you or your student are working hard but still not seeing results, this is exactly the kind of thing I help with.
