Year End Family Fun Day.

Gravenhurst Scouting held its annual Family Fun Day June 14th at Camping in Muskoka. We had Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Guides having fun, getting wet and ending the day with a campfire. Along the way we celebrated two birthdays, Piper moving up from Cubs to Scouts and awards to three Scouters for all their years volunteering. Many thanks to Camping in Muskoka for the facility.

As we wind down for the summer we are looking forward to September when we start up again. If you have or know a youth: Chipmonk aged (4,5), Beaver aged (6,7), Cub aged (8-10), or Scout aged (11-13) interested in joining us in September go to scouts.ca. We also need volunteers. We need a treasurer, registrar, social media person, people to run fundraisers, building maintenance, and Scouters. We can use any time you are willing to give us. An hour here or there, once a month, once a week, once a year. We need you.

The Cubs and Scouts spent our meeting cleaning up garbage from the road into Chamberlain Timber Mart. We also found a geocache!

Scouts had a great weekend of fun at the Area year-end camp. We camped with Gravenhurst Guides at Camp Wildman near Midland. Groups from all over the area participated. Big thanks to all those that organized the camp, especially the Venturers who did an outstanding job. Highlighs included bottle rockets, obstacle course and the afternoon of water activities.

Scouts and Cubs had fun at the playground. We also worked on our GPS geocaching skills.

We purchased the red and green canoes in the 90s. Do you remember canoeing in them? They have been in storage at Morrison Meadows for at least a decade. Thanks to Morrison Meadows for that Scouters Rick and Craig spent the day getting the trailer and power washing everything. The canoes are in OK shape, bit there is a list of minoe repairs and some TLC so we can use them into the future. The trailer is also in need of some work. If you or anyone you know would like to help us out with this we would greatly appreciate it.
