Every spring, water washed out part of the pathway behind St. Antoine Daniel School in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. CVL was brought in to help develop a lasting fix.

Our civil and structural team developed concepts for the watercourse crossing and the pathway connecting the school to the street. The work included site planning, grading, culvert concepts, foundation coordination and structural bridge drawings.

As the design developed, we updated the bridge for a skewed crossing and a six-meter length, then prepared the drawings for review and submission.

The project gave the school board a coordinated design to address a recurring maintenance problem and provide a more reliable route through the site.

Shxwhá:y Village and Headlands Environmental have opened a mobile, modular, dual-feed soil washing facility in Chilliwack.

The facility is designed to process excess and contaminated soils from major infrastructure and development projects. It separates reusable sand, stone, and aggregates from soil that might otherwise be sent to landfill. Headlands says the closed-loop plant can operate continuously and support a high recovery rate for construction reuse.

For geotechnical, environmental, and construction teams, this is a useful example of how material recovery and remediation technology can reduce disposal pressure while creating reusable aggregate for future projects.

Take a look at the completed 4 × 8-metre shelter at Jim Lorimer Park in Burnaby, BC.

Working with Quantum Design and Technologies, CVL designed the foundation and provided structural review and stamping of the steel cantilever structure.

The cantilever allows the roof to extend beyond its supports, keeping the covered area open. Our work included checking the steel structure and developing the foundation beneath it, with updates as the shelter drawings progressed.

Glad to see this addition to the park built and ready for use.
