HAVE YOU SIGNED THE WATER NOT COAL PETITION?

If not, check their website and find out where you can find canvassers in your area, within the next week.

Bravo to Corb Lund for this important petition.

Some things money can never fix.

Once selenium and other coal mining toxins get into a watershed, they don't leave. Water treatment becomes a permanent cost and concern.

A peer-reviewed 2025 study found that water quality problems persist even after coal mine reclamation. Even after mines close.

Sign the petition now — before June 7! — while there's still something left to protect. And learn more about this study and others at waternotcoal.ca

A WARNING, TAKEN FROM THE NATIONAL OBSERVER, THAT IS A MUST READ

“I watched in disbelief as the results poured in. The personal information of thousands of voters, easily searchable on a US Republican advocacy website – 10XVotes.

The website was built by a group that’s part of Michigan’s religious right wing with the goal of convincing low-engagement voters to head to the polls. But scrolling through the data I realized that the voters, whose information was visible for anyone to see, were not from Michigan. They were Albertans.

I discovered this website on Monday while digging into 10XVotes. The organization had been cited by the Alberta separatist David Parker as the inspiration for the Centurion Project, which is under investigation for unauthorized access of the personal information of three million Alberta voters — the largest privacy scandal in the province’s history. A search for subdomains on the US Republican group’s website returned one that appears to be exclusively for Alberta.

Somehow Elections Alberta, one of the three bodies investigating the breach, were unaware that the app existed. I discovered that when I called them for a comment. Instead, over the phone, I showed its investigators how to sign up and search the data — and that searching for a single letter of an address returned the details of a thousand Albertans. Within hours, 10XVotes had taken down the website, seemingly after a request from Elections Alberta.

While the origins of the data are not yet known — and it may not be the same electors list used by The Centurion Project — one thing is clear: The roots of this voter data scandal extend far beyond the borders of Alberta, including deep into MAGA country.

It will take months, if not years, until the final results of investigations by Elections Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta and the RCMP are published. In the meantime, Canada’s National Observer will continue digging and keep you informed.”
