Just an hour to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and take a little breathing room before the rest of your afternoon.

GLP-1 medications can make it feel like you don’t need to eat.
But your body still needs nourishment.
This is one of the most important nutrition conversations happening right now.
I spoke about some recent research on the nutrition implications of taking GLP-1 medications on CBC Radio earlier this week.

Unpopular opinion for a dietitian:
I don't post "What I Eat in a Day" videos.
(Today's version belongs to my cat 😺).
I know these are popular but they can easily turn into food comparison.
A single day of eating from one person doesn't always reflect reality.
Hunger cues, stress, schedule - all of these shape how we eat, and these don't make it into a 30 sec video.
If you've ever compared your eating to someone online and felt like you were "doing it wrong" you're definitely not alone!
🤔 I'm curious - how do you feel about "What I eat in a day" videos?
Nutrition advice isn't very helpful if it’s not made for you.
Your body, your history with food, your culture, your schedule, your capacity that day - all of it matters.
This is why one-size-fits-all rules (like “just eat more protein”) can feel so frustrating.
A good dietitian can help you figure out what actually works in your real life.
Save this as a reminder:
You don’t need to force yourself to fit the plan - the plan should fit you.

Last week I assisted in another Somatic Experiencing training in Edmonton. This was an intermediate-level training with a key focus on exploring medical trauma — whew, it was a BIG topic.
😐 It got me thinking about the many stressful medical experiences clients have shared with me, often related to gaps in eating disorder care.
👉 There are so many medical appointments when someone is navigating an eating disorder — regular medical monitoring at the doctor’s office, lab work, weight checks (when necessary), plus appointments with a dietitian and therapist…
Ugh, it’s a lot.
Even when healthcare providers genuinely want to help, some of these experiences can leave a lasting imprint on the nervous system. You might feel worried, anxious, or unsettled long after the appointment is over.
✨ If you can relate to this, know that support is available. Somatic Experiencing is a gentle approach that can help the body gradually release stored survival energy and return the nervous system to a more regulated state.
✨ Through slow, mindful tracking of bodily sensations, it can help you move out of fight/flight/freeze and reconnect with a greater sense of safety in your body. ❤️
