Fancy Tree Service recently visited a beautiful property in Deep Brook to take down four fully grown trees.

This is our specialty!

One tree was in close proximity to a storage shed. Rope access and climbing techniques were used to piece it down, bit by bit, to the ground.

The other three trees were felled methodically in the direction of the chipper; away from the house and less drag distance for the debris.

The chipper swiftly ate up all limbs and small logs. Once the truck was full, the loads were transported to a local farmstead in Clementsvale as a donation for the livestock.

The final step in this process was a full clean up. The homeowner will be able to mow his lawn without worrying about debris left over.

A rough guess, (hopefully close), would put this tree around 80’ tall - towering over a well know, local establishment.

The Tulip Tree (Liriodendron Tulipifera) - commonly referred to as a Tulip Poplar had grown too large for the location, the decision was made to take it down.

This job was a multistage process. Jobsite safety was, and continues to be, the chief focus. Many hazards were present, identified, and mitigated while taking this tree down. This made for a smooth finish and thumbs up from the client.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the folks who waved or came to say hello during the job over the past two weekends. It was a pleasure to meet you all!

BITTERSWEET

This dying white pine had been a cornerstone of my family’s cottage for my entire life. For as long as I could remember, this was always a “big” tree. Now that it’s gone, a very healthy, juvenile Hemlock will grow to take its place behind where it stood.

My grandfather and I watched this tree slowly die over the past year, the dry summer of 2025 was the nail in the coffin. This tree became too distressed and was also victim to a bug infestation.

I was blessed with the opportunity to remove a tree that had been a part of my life, for my whole life, up until last Thursday. I had a great day out to the cottage and got to see the area from a height I’ve never witnessed before.

Fancy Tree Service specializes in the removal of trees that have died, become hazards, or have overstayed their welcome. This was textbook.

Power lines on one side, storage sheds on the other. This meant rope access was necessary. A quick decision to complete a removal was pertinent in maintaining the structural rigidity of the dead tree. This gave solid confidence while climbing, rigging down tops and branches, and chunking down firewood.

All that remains now is a pile of brush to be burned in accordance with local burning regulations, lots of firewood to be enjoyed for years to come, and most importantly, a weight lifted off our chests.

Wow, what a bruiser!

Fancy Tree Service responded to a call from the Kearney Lake area near Halifax earlier this week.

This hollow hemlock posed a safety risk to two nearby houses. The homeowner was also concerned about falling branches while neighbouring children played in the woods.

To preserve three young trees near the base of this tree, a rigging line was placed near the top of the trunk. With the help of a come-along winch, the remaining trunk of the tree was safely dropped between the small trees.

The customer requested that the trunk and larger limbs be cut into firewood-sized pieces for backyard fires in the future.

The rest of the brush was placed in piles to decay. The rotten punk from inside the trunk was evenly spread around the terrain so that new growth will thrive on the nutrients.
