I recently completed my CNAP certification through Humanity Financial Management Inc.
If you work in or around a nonprofit, you already know this. The bookkeeping is different. The reporting is different. The responsibility around fund tracking, grants, and compliance is on a completely different level.

CNAP stands for Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional, and the entire program is built around the financial realities of Canadian NPOs and charities.

For me, this was not about adding letters behind my name.

It was about going deeper into a sector that deserves bookkeeping teams who truly understand how it works, and making sure Collective Finance continues to operate at the highest possible standard when supporting nonprofit organizations.

I’m very grateful to Humanity Financial for building a program that raises the bar for how Canadian bookkeepers support this space.

Teina has 8 years of bookkeeping experience and a special talent for turning “I have no idea what happened here” into clean, clear reports that actually make sense.

She lived in Vancouver for years, so she knows exactly what our clients need and how Canadian books are supposed to be done.

She is currently home with her family in Jamaica, still keeping everything beautifully on track from afar. Proof that good bookkeeping travels well.

Founder of Collective Finance. Bookkeeper by trade. Payroll nerd by choice. Coffee reheater by circumstance.

I’ve spent 20+ years in Canadian bookkeeping and payroll, which means I’ve seen receipts stored in glove boxes, mystery transactions with no origin story, and payroll setups that should come with a warning label.

I get weirdly excited about a perfectly organized chart of accounts, have strong feelings about payroll compliance, and believe good processes are a love language.
