Glue ups are stressful
Big ole live edge esque table in the shop, live edge sides that flow into pill shaped ends, for extra seating
Great looking wood as usual from Wood Cache will be getting finished in Rubio and a set of thick solid wood legs will be getting added to this one as well
The sweet sounds of the shop
A few satisfying sounds from one of the dining tables I had been working on going to be a big ole walnut table with live edges!

This one flows
My client wanted something that was sturdy but light and had curves on it l, they also said they wanted a funky leg
I think this pulled that off, utilizing a steep underbevel I could maintain thickness on the top but reduce the visual weight of the edge of the table giving a light appearance. The legs feature a inside curve and are set at a small angle outwards to give a more grounded stance with the rounded features of the leg and table I think it does a good job of feeling balanced, sturdy but remaining light in the room

Extension dining table is all wrapped up and installed
Love the look of these legs and the thin profile of the table, let me know what you think of it
Perfect fit
Adding a few bowties to stabilize some cracks I found in the toppers that I am taking to this year. It will my first convention and I’m pulling out all the stops. New accessories, custom panels, 3d printed accessories, a custom table and even bringing a few of my NES coffee tables, I will actually be raffling off one of the coffee tables so come and visit and enter for a chance to win. Small shop big projects
Adapting and pivoting to keep the projects rolling, having the ability to move machines and work surfaces out of the way has been a huge assets in this new small shop allowing me to take on relatively large scale projects in a smaller space. It’s also a huge help having an extra set of hands every once and a while when tackling certain parts of a project
Oh the joys of building furniture.
It may all come together in my head but in the real world there will always be problems to solve
But that’s why I love it and keep coming back for more
Any projects not go your way?
Stress free glue up tips
1. Do a dry fit, sounds obvious, but it saves the stress of something not fitting when the glue has been applied, and rushing to try and fix it
2. Layout the clamps, keeps them close by and ready to use
3. Use the right glue, if you are doing a big or complex glue up using an epoxy or a glue with a longer open time
4. Making proper jigs for even clamp pressure I use corner clamps to make sure I get even clamp clamp pressure across the joint
5. If you have an extra set of hands that can be very handy when trying to do complex glueups
6. To prevent joint slipping when clamping, add a very small amount of salt to the joint to add a bit of grit
$4000 cut
Working on this extension dining table and have dreaded having to make this cut. It has to be perfect as when it comes together it needs to be seamless and when I add a leaf in there it also needs to be seamless so this cut with tracksaw had little room for error. A little tuning to the saw and we got a perfect 90 cut, don’t even know why I was worrying so much
Onto the rest of table!
Shavings be a flyin
Flush cutting the legs for my next dining table commission, roughed them out on the CNC and yes I could have just cut them out fully but the size of the blanks didn’t allow for quality hold downs or screws.
I love making dining tables and it’s great when the client allows me some design freedom to create something truly unique!
