Haven’t posted in quite a while, but the work hasn’t stopped!

In celebration of them hitting their 50th win of the season the other night, I’m pleased to share 1 of the 2 jerseys I designed for PA this season! Thank you for the amazing opportunity to design your logo and jersey for October’s Hockey Fights Cancer game. To see my own designs on WHL ice for the first time was incredible, but to also have it be a part of something so special was a true honour.

// WHL Revamp 8 //.
Team: Calgary Hitmen
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Calgary, Alberta.
Moving on to the other big city in Alberta! The Calgary Hitmen are the 8th team of this WHL Revamp series! I have always loved the name and the origins of this team, but have always thought the logo was a bit of a miss, especially considering the potential it could have. Maybe they’re trying to make it more family friendly, but I have always thought they should make it more intimidating. That’s exactly what I tried to do here. I also kept the same colour palette as I appreciate its uniqueness within the league. Don’t know if Brett Hart’s pink works on a regular uniform, especially on a team based in the Canadian Prairies. Let me know how I did! .

// WHL Revamp 7 //.
Team: Edmonton Oil Kings
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta.
Starting off the WHL’s Alberta Division with Alberta’s capital. Here is my take on the Edmonton Oil Kings! I’ve been a bit confused with their brand recently, with their blue/yellow alternates, their bright green set, and their traditional uniforms. All really solid looks, but I’m not entirely sure they all fit together. Out of the 3, the blue/yellow lion jersey is by far my favourite, so this redesign is a play on that. This one turned out a little more ‘Premier League like’ than I was hoping, but I still think it turned out okay! Let me know your thoughts!.

Team: Saskatoon Blades
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan .
Finishing off the East division today with one more team from Saskatchewan, the Saskatoon Blades! This redesign is definitely a prime example of “you can’t fix what’s not broken.” Even though I’m a Pats fan, I really appreciate the Blades current look. I had the toughest time trying to come up with ideas for this one without making it look like the Canucks or Sabres (depending on the type of “blade” you choose). This concept ended up being a mix of Eras, modernizing their 90’s logo, using their 2000’s colours, all on their current jersey template (sort of). I think it turned out alright. Let me know your thoughts!.

Team: Swift Current Broncos
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Swift Current, Saskatchewan .
Another week, another WHL East division concept coming your way! Swift’s turn this time around! Wasn’t exactly sure what direction to take this in as they have kept their branding pretty consistent over the years. In this rebrand I attempted to combine some of the elements of their current logo in an approach I don’t believe they’ve taken before! The jersey itself is inspired by their uniforms from the 90’s, which they recently just did a throwback to this season. Let me know your thoughts! .

Team: Moose Jaw Warriors
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan .
Continuing the road trip through Sask with another WHL concept! Moose Jaw’s turn this time around! I wasn’t exactly sure what direction to take this one in, as I wanted to include both the unique name of the city and its history with the as well. I figured a Minnesota Wild inspired logo would allow both ideas to be used! Definitely not the best one of the series but an interesting concept to think about! .

Team: Regina Pats
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Regina, Saskatchewan .
Here’s the third concept for my WHL Revamp series! Staying local with this one! I originally wanted to start this series with the Pats, however I wanted to make sure my squad was done correctly before posting it. Very happy with the results! I’ve always wondered if they would ever turn that iconic stylized ‘P’ into an ‘R’ to represent the city in which they have played in for over a century. Lots of history to play with here as the Pats are the oldest major junior franchise in the world still playing in their original location! Let me know your thoughts on this redesign!.

Another WHL rebrand concept for you this week! I’ve always appreciated PA’s look over the years, but when they came out with that black alternate a few years back, I thought they took things to a whole new level. This one is a play on that design, simply switching a ‘pirate raider’ for one that makes a little bit more sense for the Canadian Prairies! Let me know your thoughts!.

Team: Brandon Wheat Kings
League: Western Hockey League (CHL)
Location: Brandon, Manitoba.
Kicking off another series of jersey/logo concepts! Keeping this one local with the Western Hockey League! Starting things off with the lone squad from Manitoba with the Brandon Wheat Kings! It’s too bad Original 16 already has a logo like this, otherwise it could be a no brainer for Brandon’s identity. Over the next little bit, I will slowly make my way west and share with you my thoughts on the rest of the WHL!.
