Today, the Calgary Hotel Association requested that the City of Calgary target and abate municipal taxes from January 1, 2022 to May 31, 2022.
While we repeat our gratitude for the deferral of municipal property taxes for Calgary hotels until the end of 2022, and other targeted support measures, we also recognize that the impacts of Covid restrictions and travel advisories have had disastrous impacts on Calgary hotels’ revenues, with projected revenue losses of over half a billion dollars combined by the end of 2022.
