Many cities and advocates are calling for a pause on changes from AISH to ADAP, and it’s not hard to see why.

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) already allows people to work if and when they’re able, while still providing the stability they need. It recognizes that people living with severe disabilities may have periods where they can contribute, and periods where they can’t and it already builds that flexibility into the system.

That matters.

AISH encourages independence without punishing people for trying. It supports dignity, while acknowledging that disability isn’t always predictable.

So the question becomes: what problem is Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) actually solving?

From the outside, it doesn’t seem to add clarity or improve outcomes. It risks creating more uncertainty for people who already rely on stability just to get by.

If the current system already allows people to work when they can, while ensuring they’re supported when they can’t, then any changes should clearly make things better, not more complicated.

Question for you:

I’m curious what your thoughts are on Prime Minister Mark Carney, and the Federal Liberals now having a majority government?

- His first act today was to remove tax on gasoline at the pumps, and aviation fuel; bringing affordability relief to Canadians. Bringing down costs, including by prior removal of carbon tax, by up to 28 cents per litre at the pump.

- Some suggesting this was only possible because of “back door deals” as so many MPs crossed the floor. Albright no evidence that was the case. As most said was of conscious for their constituents.

- Others are suggesting this is because the Federal conservatives under MP Pierre Poilievre, are simply out of touch with the average Canadian.

What do you think? 🤔

This past Thursday, we were grateful to be part the Calgary Homeless Foundation and City of Calgary Emergency Weather Response, and to have a seat at the table with the “Outreach Collective.”

These conversations bring frontline partners together to discuss the realities we’re seeing every day—sharing challenges, opportunities, and successes across the sector.

A key takeaway from recent discussions was the ongoing impact of the loss of Calgary’s supervised consumption site, alongside harm reduction supply shortages, an increase in overdoses being seen on the ground, and growing challenges in coordination—especially as funding pressures continue to impact programs across the system.

Another important takeaway was the release of the annual Point-in-Time Count. This count represents a snapshot in time, combining on-the-ground canvassing with shelter data to better understand homelessness in our city.

The data confirms what frontline teams are already seeing: homelessness continues to rise.

In 2024, approximately 3,100 individuals were counted experiencing homelessness. In 2025, that number increased to approximately 3,300—marking a clear year-over-year increase.

A very well rounded and authentic presentation to by Karen McPherson, Operations Director, BeTheChangeYYC,

“Through the 10-year plan to end homelessness, nearly 10,000 people were housed through coordinated, sustained effort.

“That happened because leaders made deliberate choices to increase housing options—not reduce them.”

This is a moment like that.

“City Council has the tools to address what we are seeing on our streets. I think repeal would be an easy vote, but what I’m asking you to do is the harder thing: to stay at the table, make amendments that address Legitimate concerns, and find the tools that help people like Shane find their way home.”

Congratulations to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration on the launch of NASA Artemis - Artemis II! Marking a major step forward in humanity’s return to the Moon and beyond.

A special shoutout to Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen 🇨🇦 representing Canada on this incredible mission around the far side of the Moon.

This is more than a mission-it’s inspiration for a generation, a symbol of global collaboration, and a reminder of what’s possible when we aim higher. When countries work together for science and exloration.

Proud moment for Canada. Proud moment for humanity. 🌍✨

Can you spare a minute to help this campaign? Renew ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ for a third season

03/27/2026

RED ALERT 🚨
I’m really disappointed to hear that Starfleet Academy will be ending after its second season.

🚨I encourage you to write to Paramount+, unfollow their socials medias write reviews reflecting this on their socials and to them. Even consider canceling your subscriptions out of protest🚨 Make sure they know why!!!

While it’s important to be clear - this decision appears to be driven largely by “viewership numbers and broader business decisions by Paramount+” - it’s hard to ignore the wave of negative commentary surrounding the show.

A lot of that criticism wasn’t about storytelling or quality. It was rooted in discomfort with representation, including backlash over something as simple as a Klingon wearing a dress, or q***r story telling. Elements of reality.

That’s disappointing!!

Because at its core, Star Trek has always been about challenging bias, embracing difference, and exploring what it means to be human in all its forms. From the very beginning, it pushed boundaries and faced backlash for doing so.

This isn’t new. But it is a reminder.

We still have work to do when it comes to how we respond to inclusion, diversity, and representation in media.

I know many people who loved this show — including those who weren’t even longtime Star Trek fans. It brought new perspectives, new audiences, and continued the legacy of asking important questions about values, ethics, and humanity.

Studios will always make business decisions. That’s reality.

But as audiences, we also shape what succeeds not just with viewership, but with the tone of the conversations we create around it.

If we want stories that reflect a better, more inclusive future, then we have to be willing to support them and push back against the kind of commentary that tries to limit what that future looks like.
