Alt Division

Gig cancelled Thursday. We are disappointed to announce our show at Thursday night is cancelled. Our guitarist, Derek, broke a finger playing hockey and will be out for a few weeks. We are hoping to reschedule at a later date.

People ask us "where did you get your name". If you have ever tried to come up with a name for a band, or a business, or anything really, you quickly learn how challenging it is find something new. We brainstormed huge lists of names, we even got some fun ideas from AI. At one point we were close to calling ourselves Stikky Ninja after a toy our previous singer Shara's kid liked. Finally our bass player, Rob, came up with Alternative Division as a nod to the band Joy Division and our intended genre of music (alternative). Guitarist, Derek, suggested shortening 'alternative' to 'Alt' to be shorter and snappier. Unlike many names we had tried out before nobody had social media with the name and so we voted to go with it- Alt Division was born.

Next Gig Alert! Thursday April 16th 7-9 pm at Glitch Bar in Airdrie. A short drive up the Deerfoot for our Calgary peeps but well worth the trip. Glitch has great food and beer. It is an all ages venue so if you can't get a sitter bring the kids and they can play a massive array of video games upstairs while you re-live the 90's rock you love down below. Great, safe venue with a wonderful stage, pro sound and great service. Come support us and most importantly, enjoy yourselves!

Great crowd at Border Crossing Pub last night.

Reminder. Tonight we are supporting families coping with cancer at on 17th ave SW. WE go onstage at 6:30. Come grab a beer, dance, and have some great pub food while supporting local music (there are bands playing every half hour from 2 pm. to 2 a.m.). While having fun you get to help families coping with financial stress on top of health challenges. It's a $10 cover which goes direct to supporting families. We know a bunch of you are already planning to come but hoping to get even more!

Exciting News! Save the date Thursday April 16th. We have a two set gig booked 7- 9 pm for in Airdrie. If you haven't been to Glitch it is an amazing venue with great food, an enormous stage and tons of entertainment options upstairs as well. Bring the whole family and let the kids play video games while you rock out below! Save the date! Saturday, March 21st we play a charity show with over a dozen other local bands supporting families fighting cancer. Location: pub on 17th Ave. Alt Division will hit the stage from 6:30 to 7. Come help us support this worthy cause, have some great pub food, a few beers and support local bands. Many excellent bands will be there for a full day and night of music. There is a $10 cover that goes to the charity and there are auctions and prizes.
