💛 Thank you for your patience… now we’re proud to introduce the Fort Macleod Four! 🐾

Just a few days ago, while heading south to bring other cats into rescue, we received an urgent call about four tiny, four-week-old kittens who had been found without their mama for more than 24 hours.

The family who found them had been watching an outdoor camera and knew Mama’s routine. When she didn’t return, they knew something was wrong and scooped these babies up to keep them safe.

And don’t worry, we haven’t given up on Mama! 💕 We still have people watching for her, and traps will be set if she’s spotted so we can hopefully reunite this little family.

In the meantime, these babies have found an unexpected mama: Penelope. 🥹

Penelope originally had four kittens of her own, but sadly, one passed away before she could be rescued. In the days after, the remaining three continued to fail to thrive despite veterinary care, and sadly, they passed as well.

Now, Penelope is pouring all that mama love into these four little orphans, and it’s pretty darn sweet to watch. ❤️🐱

🧀 Who’s the cutest little cheese ball that ever did live in a clam in a bathroom?

That would be Queso. ❤️

We shared yesterday that we’d heard Queso’s siblings had been found and would be coming into care. After further communication with the wonderful family who found them, they feel quite comfortable continuing to care for the little ones in their own home. We’ve also offered our support if they need it along the way. 🥰

So while Queso probably won’t get to reunite with his siblings, there’s no need to be sad!

Queso is about to meet some brand-new friends who are close to his size, but a little bit older. And they’re going to teach this adorable little cheese ball how to be a cat. 🐱🧀

We have a feeling he’s going to fit right in. ❤️

And stay tuned… because FOUR new sweet babies joined us today! 🥹 They’ve landed in foster care with the most perfect foster dad. Their mama sadly lost all four of her own young babies after they came from a very precarious living environment during our recent colony trapping event. But now? She seems to be absolutely doting on these little ones like they were her own. ❤️

Sometimes, rescue has a funny way of finding mamas when babies lose their OG mama.

🐾 Remember Queso? 🧡

Our cute little ginger kitty who came into our care while we worked tirelessly to find his siblings and mama? Well, we have some exciting news!

It’s come to our attention that Queso’s two siblings were found about a block away and have been safely secured by a kind citizen. 🥹

We’ll be connecting with them very soon to create a detailed plan for bringing the kittens into our care and, most importantly, reuniting Queso with his siblings. ❤️

We’re so excited about the possibility of these three little ones being together again. We’ll share more as we know it!

🐾 ADOPTION UPDATE! 🐾

We’ve got some VERY happy news: every one of these beautiful animals has found a forever home! ❤️🏡

Some needed medical care, others needed patience and time to trust. And now? They’re HOME. 🥹

🎉 Mongo, Princess Donut & Little Meowsk hit the jackpot and were adopted TOGETHER! Three little lives now get to share their future with the same family. ❤️

🐾 Relay went from a suspicious, sassy girl to an outgoing sweetheart with a serious passion for chasing wagging dog tails. 😂

⚔️ Baldur found a family to match his enormous heart. This affectionate boy thinks everyone is a friend.

🧡 Tilly found a patient family willing to let her build confidence at her own pace. Her journey from cautious stray to cherished companion continues in the best possible place.

🍪 Cookie, our resilient three-legged DOG, found his forever family after overcoming an abandoned start and a badly broken leg that required amputation. Three legs haven’t slowed this sweet boy down!

🤠 Cowboy traded his outdoor worries for a forever home where he can keep being his playful, curious, foot-ambushing self. 😂

🥞 Pancake found a family ready for his toy obsession, playful antics and slowly emerging affection for humans. Wet food may have helped seal the deal. 😹

🩶❄️ Jack Frost finally has warm beds, good food and loving humans after years outdoors. This silly senior has officially retired from street life!

🖤 Oreo found his people and a place where he can settle in at his own pace, enjoy sunny windows and show off his sweet personality.

🩶 Pepper found the patient, loving home she needed to blossom and build the special bond she’s always had waiting inside her.

Every adoption is a reminder of why we keep doing this. From uncertain beginnings to forever homes, these animals now get to live the lives they deserved all along. ❤️

Today is the day we’ve been waiting for. The Suburban is prepped, the puppy pads are down, and we’re headed to Calgary to collect some very precious cargo. By the time we turn around for home, all that empty space will look a whole lot more like rescue transport day!

My day started at 5 AM so I could be on the road just before 6AM and in Calgary for our 8:30 AM pickup. Canadian Animal Task Force has volunteers coming in to clean up and sterilize, 🥹 so there was no chance I was going to be rolling in late! I used vacation time from my full time job this week to get these colonies done, and I have officially reached the point where I need a vacation from my vacation. I am TIRED. 🥱

Between Asgard Colony and Kravitz Colony, a whole lot of cats went through this TNVR event, with some still waiting for vetting due to either their size or illness. We’re still waiting on the final numbers, but today our job is getting the Asgard crew back where they belong while BHARS gets the Kravitz Colony returned. Two colonies, two return crews, and a whole lot fewer future kittens. 🙌

Release is my absolute favourite part of TNVR. There is nothing quite like opening that trap door and watching a cat take off back into familiar territory, now spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tattooed, treated for parasites, and officially retired from the kitten making business. It’s the moment that makes the exhaustion, the kilometres, the planning and all the moving pieces worth it. 🤹

I’m going LIVE for the Asgard Colony release today because I want you 🫵 to experience this part with us. You’ve followed this colony, cheered us on and supported the work that got us here, so you deserve to see the best part too! This is the moment we’ve been working toward, and I can’t wait to share it with the community that continues to show up and help us keep making it better, together. ♥️🩶🐾

I’m forever grateful for the incredible team that makes high-volume, quality veterinary care possible for cats coming from outdoor and colony environments. So many arrive sick, injured, pregnant, or simply struggling to survive.

Looking at this picture, you don’t just see my tired, happy face. You see 13 lives that have forever changed.

No more kittens born into precarious environments.
No more males fighting over females.
Fewer illnesses.
Fewer injuries.
And less strain on already stretched community resources.

A massive shout-out to Canadian Animal Task Force, their incredible staff, and every volunteer who showed up bright and early today to make sure 55 cats received veterinary care.

We’re also incredibly thankful to our Warm Whiskers Project team members, who worked tirelessly alongside the two colony caretakers to build trust, coordinate access, and ensure we could enter their properties to assist the cats from both colonies.

And this isn’t the end. Another ~30 cats are waiting in the wings, ready for their turn once they’re healthy enough or big enough for surgery.

This work is remarkable. It changes lives, prevents suffering, and makes a lasting difference in our communities.

We simply couldn’t do it without CATF, our Warm Whiskers Project team, the colony caretakers, and every volunteer who makes this possible. 🐾❤️

We’re so honored to call Canadian Animal Task Force not only colleagues in Animal Welfare, but friends. Making clinics like this possible, helps all of us accelerate the path towards a stable population of companion and community animals. 💞

🐈‍⬛ CAT FIXIN FRIDAY: ONE WEEK. 60+ CATS. LIVES CHANGED FOREVER.

The cats in this video, along with many more spending the night in another room, are about to have their lives changed forever.

This week, we’re working closely with the Canadian Animal Task Force on a massive effort to provide basic and, in many cases, life-altering veterinary care to more than 60 cats.

The BHARS/WWP team has been out trapping, while working alongside community members and colony caregivers to make sure these cats have everything they need before, during and after their veterinary care.

For many of these cats, this means spay/neuter, vaccinations and other essential care. For some, it means addressing medical issues that have been affecting their quality of life.

And when their care is complete, they’ll return to the outdoor homes they know, with their colony caregivers equipped to continue looking after them.

This isn’t just about one day of veterinary care. It’s about changing the trajectory of dozens of lives and giving these cats a healthier future. ❤️
