One of the biggest native butternuts I have come across. It does have some sooty cankers and a couple open ones on the flare, but seems to be dealing with them well. Big beautiful crown...I've been a BHA since the program started, and can honestly say I had started to fall out of favor for this species, this one has just altered my thoughts...what a magnificent tree!
It worked a bit...check back in another couple months...surface callus

Well, a car smashed into this tree last night. The client wants to do anything so, let's see if we can generate some new tissue. Sometimes this will work if the cambiam hasn't dried out and only a little time will tell. I'll check in a month or two.🤞🏻👨🏼⚕️

The preservation practices by the Central Park Conservancy is amazing, leaving the long grass around the base of their trees keeps those w**d wackers and mowers away, negating endless torture on the trees. Seeing the Mall and the American elms is truly appreciating!
