Pet peeve alert 🚨
The one thing that drives me crazy in business more than anything is sending an email to someone and never getting a response 😠
It happens.
PR 101 - never leave someone hanging! Always respond even if it’s brief - keep it polite! You never know what doors can open for you or what doors you can open for someone else ... not to mention if someone takes the time to reach out, respect their time and follow up!
I once sent an email to Tony Hsieh who was the founder of and an extraordinary visionary. I never expected to hear back because I just assumed he would be too busy. But he did. We exchanged only a few emails and next thing I knew he invited me out to Las Vegas to explore the ‘Downtown Project’ and asked me to speak at an event in Vegas. It was a life changing experience. He made that happen simply just by following up. was an extraordinary entrepreneur and I learned so many business lessons just from our short exchange and one of them was the importance of follow ups and respecting all inquiries you receive. That’s what this lesson taught me about Tony. His success was partly because he took the time to listen/read, and respond - he wasn’t driven by ego or a‘what’s in it for me’ attitude.
By doing follow ups / responding can happen. Sometimes not right away ... but when it does it’s amazing!
Think about it this way ... do you want to be known as the entrepreneur who closes doors and doesn’t respond or opens doors and does follow ups?
