I always prefer to start the background before the subjects so I can keep values balanced and get nice movement on the space. This was drawn on with the from
Extra great bc it’s getting impossible to find yellow markers lately, and they can sell you a whole box!

Ancient lore (quoted by Pliny the Elder) claimed that peonies should only be dug up at night, because if a woodpecker saw you doing it in the day, it would peck your eyes out. In my garden, there is a woodpecker who shows up every spring, and loudly drums at the metal post nearby, to establish territory, seduce a mate, (and vex me.)
The peony flower is named after Paeon, a student of the Greek god of medicine, Asclepius, and used for centuries in traditional medicine, to treat pain, inflammation, and asthma.
A well-planted peony can live 100 years or more, returning every spring with larger plants and more blooms.
These evergreen peonies that I tattooed, will bloom 365 days a year. ;)

I don’t do a lot of black and grey work, but when I do, it’s usually Japanese wind bars, or ultra gentle pepper shading.
For this project, we chose to work in darker, more saturated shading to add a little moodiness to an otherwise delicate, very feminine composition.
I love how things are taking form, and I am so looking forward to our next session. Made with care at mellow

We made this tattoo from my clients photography! Larissa had a beautiful butterfly playing in her garden, and sent me a nice sharp photo of it- now this Painted Lady lives on her arm forever.

I love tattooing! I’m booking July, August, and September. Email me! CONTACT link is in my bio!

Phoebe travelled all the way from England to see me and add more little bits to her growing garden of tattoos, including a cheeky little bum-blebee. We tattooed down the forearm, and around the elbow, but I forgot to photograph that part 🙃
Over the years she has amassed quite a collection, including rib cage, sternum, back of neck, lower leg, a wrap style sleeve, behind the ear, and a small spray of flowers on this arm. I’m so grateful to be her artist.

Fine pointillism chanterelles under a drizzling dot work sky- this might be my favourite way to tattoo them, playing with so much texture in the gills. Mushrooms are so intricate and fascinating.
I’d love to make more earthy goddess tattoos, like this (unfinished) project. If you’re curious about getting one, please email me! The link is in the “contact” tab in my bio.
Always created with care

Throwback to this “ugly dutchling” I made for Jess. I still love it so much, and would love to make some more fun Neo-trad tattoos.
