For anyone looking to improve their emotional regulation skills, it’s important to not be ashamed of uncomfortable or unwanted emotions. Everyone has them, it’s what people do with them that counts.
Learning to regulate our emotions through conflicts, uncertainties, and everyday life makes those emotions much less likely to escalate and lead to regrettable situations.

How can you deal with negative thoughts?
One way to deal with negative thoughts is to replace them with thoughts that make you feel better. Let's say you just learned that you have anxiety. You might tell yourself "My life will never be the way it used to be" or "This is the beginning of the end for me." That will probably make you feel pretty bad-and it can make you struggle a lot more.
Do you have any negative thoughts right now? (Sometimes it's hard to even know.) Take a minute, listen to your thoughts, and see if you do. If you're telling yourself something that makes you feel bad, remember: You are in charge of what you tell yourself. So why not tell yourself something more encouraging?
It's ok to seek help from a mental health professional.

I really like how simply put this was. It is certainly very true too how much early attachments influence the way we relate to people we are in relationships with in adulthood. I made this one a post so that you can come back and reread or share at anytime. Can you find anything which resonates with a situation you have found yourself in?

Avoid judging people prematurely, we all have our own struggles. Not everyone is open with talking about their struggles. Some of the best put together people on the outside are fighting deep internal bottles. Be compassionate and kind to everyone, you never know what they are going through. Be the kindness you want to see in the world.

This year I want to want to try to keep this page active. A part of what I would like to do is having conversations about mental health.
