The Minister of Sport and Arts, Jacob Kelebeng, has announced that government will revive constituency sports tournaments that were first introduced in 2008 but discontinued in 2018.

Kelebeng revealed this while presenting his ministryโ€™s budget proposal, noting that the Recreational Constituency Sport Tournament Programme was originally established to address a range of social challenges.

These included youth idleness, drug abuse, crime, unplanned teenage pregnancies, and other societal concerns. He explained that one of the programmeโ€™s key objectives was to provide a platform for out of school youth to showcase their sporting talents and potentially transition into structured mainstream leagues.

โ€œThe Ministry has commenced the review and reorganization of the programme, with a strong emphasis on enhancing youth participation and talent development,โ€ said Kelebeng
