What if the difference between struggling and succeeding was simply knowing the rules?

As part of the Lowapi Impact Lab’s Literacy on Wheels Adopted Class Program, we are working with learners at Marulamantsi Primary School to teach the building blocks of reading and spelling. In this lesson, we focus on the CK Rule and the FLOSS Rule simple but powerful concepts that help children understand why words are spelled the way they are.

When learners know the rules, they no longer have to guess. They can decode unfamiliar words, self-correct when they make mistakes, and build confidence as readers and writers.

For many children, literacy is the key that unlocks every other area of learning. Through Literacy on Wheels, we are committed to bringing structured literacy instruction to underserved communities and ensuring that every child has access to the skills they need to thrive.

Every child can learn to read when given the right instruction.

Not every child learns in the same way and that does not mean they are incapable.

Neurodivergence means the brain processes learning, communication, attention or sensory information differently. Some common forms of neurodivergence include Dyslexia, Autism and ADHD.

Dyslexia can affect reading, spelling and writing.
Autism can affect communication, social interaction and sensory processing. ADHD can affect attention, focus, impulse control and organization.

Too often, neurodivergent children are misunderstood as lazy, disruptive or “not trying,” when in reality they may simply need support that matches how they learn best.

At Lowapi Study Centre, we believe every child can learn with the right support, the right environment and the right instruction.

Literacy is more than reading words on a page.
It is access to learning, confidence, communication and future opportunity.

Yet many children quietly struggle with foundational reading skills, making school harder than it should be and slowly affecting their confidence in the classroom.

At Lowapi Study Centre, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn with confidence and dignity. Through our Lowapi Impact Lab, we have adopted a class at Marulamantsi Primary School to provide structured reading intervention and strengthen foundational literacy skills where support is needed most.

Because when children receive the right intervention early, everything changes:
• They participate more confidently
• They begin to understand and engage with learning
• They communicate better
• They rediscover belief in themselves

We believe early support, intentional intervention and access can change the trajectory of a child’s educational journey.

If you would like to partner with us in creating meaningful educational change for children, we would love to connect.

Does your child confuse letters like b and d even after repeated practice?

For many children, this isn’t carelessness it’s a sign that they may be struggling with foundational reading skills. And when reading starts to feel confusing, confidence often begins to drop too.

At Lowapi Study Centre, we help parents understand what’s really happening beneath the mistakes. Through tailored support, we help children strengthen the skills needed for confident, independent reading and writing.

Because when a child gets the right support, learning can begin to make sense again.
