For a long time, I kept my story to myself—thinking it was just about me, or that no one else would relate. But over time, I realized: 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬—𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬.

I’m sharing my story because I want to 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝, even when the path isn’t clear.

These lessons have shaped my career as a project management consultant and trainer, and now they’re forming the foundation of my 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤, 𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕: 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑰𝒕 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍, coming later this year.

Every story has the power to light the way for someone else. I hope that by sharing mine, it can 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞, 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 for those navigating their own journeys.

Some days pass on the calendar… but the message is still worth saying.

Professional Speakers Celebration Day was a few days ago (March 14), and it got me reflecting.

Speaking isn’t just about delivering a great presentation.
It’s about responsibility.

Every time we step in front of an audience—whether it’s a keynote, a workshop, or a training session—we’re shaping how people think, lead, and act.

And if I’m being honest…
In today’s world, inspiration alone isn’t enough.

People don’t just need motivation.
They need clarity.
They need practical strategies.
They need something they can actually APPLY when they walk out of the room.

That’s the standard I hold myself to every time I speak.

Because success isn’t about what sounds good in the moment—
it’s about what people DO differently after.

So here’s a question for my fellow speakers (and even those who hire us):

But let’s dispel the myth once and for all:
𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞.

Productivity is about outcomes, not activity.

Impact, not motion.

Value, not volume.

Highly productive people consistently practice these 8 habits:

1️⃣ Remove the unimportant – ruthlessly focus on what moves the needle
2️⃣ Work the 80/20 – prioritize the few tasks that drive the greatest results
3️⃣ Take strategic breaks – sustainability fuels long-term performance
4️⃣ Remove distractions – protect your attention like a project resource
5️⃣ Set a timeline – clarity creates ex*****on discipline
6️⃣ Create your flow environment – design conditions for deep work
7️⃣ Use time pockets – be intentional with small windows of opportunity
8️⃣ Automate – build systems so you don’t rely on willpower alone

In project management terms?

This is value delivery over activity tracking.

The goal isn’t to do more.

It’s to finish what matters.
