Ending homelessness in Bermuda

23/06/2026

HOME's Renting Ready programme helps people prepare for independent living. It covers everything from understanding a lease and reading a Belco bill, to knowing your rights as a tenant and managing your space well.

It’s targeted at first-time tenants, people who need support managing their rental and anyone at risk of eviction. Because, the goal is not just to find people a home. It’s to help them keep it.

Happy National Heroes Day, Bermuda πŸ’š

Today we celebrate the people who have dedicated their lives to making this island better for everyone.

In 2021, HOME identified 555 people experiencing homelessness in Bermuda. By the end of 2025, that number was 1,331.

The need is growing. So is our commitment to meeting it. But we cannot do it without the support of this community.

Wondering what your donation to HOME actually funds?

It funds the consistent, skilled professional presence of a case manager. Someone who works alongside people experiencing homelessness in Bermuda, navigates the system with them and stays committed to lasting change, not just a quick fix.

That is what ends homelessness. Not a bed for a night. A relationship built over time.

Good case management isn't a checklist. It's a relationship πŸ’š

The people you don't see.

Not everyone experiencing homelessness is sleeping rough. Many are on a friend's sofa, in a car, in a temporary arrangement with no guarantee of tomorrow. They don't get counted in official figures. They rarely access support.

In Bermuda, the true number of people experiencing homelessness is higher than any report can capture.

Some people leave a legacy that lasts long after they're gone.

Born in Bermuda in 1873, Matilda Smith Williams dedicated her life to caring for others. Upon her death in 1940, she left her property with one wishβ€”that it become a home for elderly women in need.

That wish became reality. The Matilda Smith Williams Senior Residence Home opened in 1962 and has been caring for Bermuda's seniors ever since.

Her legacy is a reminder that the desire to house and protect the most vulnerable in our community is not new. It’s part of who we are as Bermudians πŸ’š

We don't do this alone.

HOME works alongside businesses, landlords, donors and organisations across Bermuda who believe that homelessness can be ended. Together, we're making that case every single day.

Thank you to our partners, volunteers and donors for showing up for our community πŸ’š
