জাতীয় শিক্ষা দিবস — ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর

আজ ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর, জাতীয় শিক্ষা দিবস। ১৯৬২ সালের এই দিনে তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে আইয়ুব খানের শরীফ শিক্ষা কমিশনের বৈষম্যমূলক ও গণবিরোধী সুপারিশের বিরুদ্ধে ছাত্রসমাজের আন্দোলন চূড়ান্ত রূপ নেয়। সর্বস্তরের মানুষের জন্য শিক্ষার অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠা ও শিক্ষাক্ষেত্রে বৈষম্য দূরীকরণের দাবিতে সেদিন রাজপথে প্রাণ দেন ওয়াজিউল্লাহ, গোলাম মোস্তফা, বাবুলসহ নাম না-জানা আরও অনেক শহিদ ছাত্র। তাঁদের আত্মত্যাগের মধ্য দিয়েই বাংলাদেশের ছাত্র আন্দোলনের ইতিহাসে যুক্ত হয় এক গৌরবোজ্জ্বল অধ্যায়, যা পরবর্তীতে ৬৬-এর ছয় দফা, ৬৯-এর গণঅভ্যুত্থান এবং ৭১-এর মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধেরও প্রেরণা জুগিয়েছিল।
