I never thought about helping with the meat preparation after Qurbani, simply because no one in our family ever expected the daughters to work on Eid day. It turns out this isn’t very common. When I asked my mother and chachi why they never asked for our help, their response was so heartfelt. They said, ‘The world will try to exploit you as much as possible. At least you can relax for as long as you are with us.’ It made me realize all over again just how lucky I am. I truly hope our generation can be like them and heal this rotten world a little.
