"The story of a defiant dog witnessing, fighting, and enduring the Liberation War of 1971. Field Marshal, a Sarail hound, is among the first victims of the war that lasted for nine months. The documentary film explores the irony of independence and joy of homecoming from a dog's perspective," Director Abid Sarker Sohag said about the plot of 'Field Marshal.'
Mongol Deep Foundation is co-producing this project. Sardar Zahid said, "The mentorship award of IEFTA will help us grow as filmmakers and enable us to take this project to an international audience." Robiul Karim Minar is the animation director, and Milton Sarkar is the chief animator of Field Marshal.
The fifth edition of Dhaka DocLab started online in August. After two months of workshop and pitching sessions, the event ended on September 27 with a virtual award-giving ceremony. Dhaka DocLab is the first platform of its kind to organize pitching exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses, and seminars for Bangladeshi documentary filmmakers, allowing for greater access and opportunity as a creative content and reality storytelling powerhouse in South Asia.

A certificate-giving ceremony was held in the conference hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy today, organized by the Dhaka DocSchool. 15 trainee have received their certificate for successful participation in a course named 'Dhaka DocSchool Creative Documentary Course-Module 1'. CEO of Deepto TV Mr. Fuad Chowdhury was present as the chief guest.
With participants, renowned filmmakers, mentors, and journalists; President of Dhaka DocLab Mr. Nasir Uddin Yousuff, GS of Bangladesh Short Film Forum Mr. Rakibul Hasan, Directors of Dhaka DocLab Mr. Tareq Ahmed and Mr. Syed Imran Hossain Kirmay also presented in the program.

Dear concerns, we are really sorry to inform you that our beloved filmmaker Kamar Ahmad Simon is covid 19 positive. We wish for his speedy recovery and hope that he would be fine within the shortest timespan. The rescheduled program of the Master Class by Kamar Ahmad Simon - organized by the Dhaka Doc Schoo - will be announced shortly.
Kamar Ahmad Simon is the first Bangladeshi filmmaker to be featured as the red carpet Director at Locarno Piazza Grande after winning the Arte International Prix and Best Award in Open Doors for his hybrid fiction âDay afterâĻâ (AnyadinâĻ / āĻ
āĻ¨ā§āĻ¯āĻĻāĻŋāĻ¨...'). It is the first film to be in the international competition of IDFA in Amsterdam and in the official selection of First Look Festival of Museum of Moving Images (MoMI) in New York. Kamar came to fame with his critically acclaimed debut 'Are You Listening!' (Shunte Ki Pao! / āĻļā§āĻ¨āĻ¤ā§ āĻāĻŋ āĻĒāĻžāĻ!) that won him the Grand Prix in CinÊma du rÊel in Paris and Golden Conch in MIFF in Mumbai. His films centre the existential themes of the subaltern and challenges the border between fiction and reality. He has been exclusively invited to La Atelier CinÊfondation of Cannes, awarded the World Cinema Fund from Berlinale, received grants from Sundance, IDFA-Bertha and Movies that Matter. Kamar has been a jury member in Sydney Film Festival, Johns Hopkins University USA has acquired rights to his film and Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland (RAI) have exhibited his work.
