Feeding 19 horses in this beautiful weather is so much fun. Just as well I love them.

Sometimes we can be paralyzed with fear of making mistakes. We worry about ruining the horse, so we do too little, or nothing at all.
I’m far from perfect, and have certainly made many many mistakes with horses. What I’ve found is that horses love feeling guidance and certainty from a person, and very much dislike feeling wishy washy guidance.
I had an art teacher in college who would come around, watching all of us anxiously staring at a blank page, and he would say- “when you don’t know what to do, do something.”
You’re bound to make mistakes. Don’t be afraid to make them: learning is messy.
If you’re feeling like you don’t know anything right now, consider that you may know a lot, you are just far more teachable and open to change. If you think everyone has it together, remember those who think they know it all often are not open to receiving contrary information. You being open makes you teachable, and though you are likely very uncomfortable, consider that you are in a perfect state to learn.

Dudey enjoying cuddles with Jade. After nearly 3 months of no riding and Jade comes back with a great position in the saddle. Well done Jade! #dudeandjade
Of course these hippos go swimming in the dam when they have freshly washed rugs #tigerlily #dude
Chilly update! 2 months post Kissing Spine surgery. Physio assessed and treated him last week and his pain levels certainly are significantly reduced. Just a bit of soreness in his glutes. He is changing shape and is generally looking a lot softer. We have been doing physio exercises for 1 week and we can already see his body shape changing.
Photo was taken yesterday our daily work.

Doesn't matter how big you are. It all comes down to confidence, consistency, timing and clear communication. #dakotaandsophie
Malcolm and Lisa swapped horses on Sunday at Nambour Jump club. It was Lisa and Tigerlily's first time participating so the swap was to help Lisa get some confidence on an experienced jumper and for Tigerlily to get the same from an experienced jumping rider.
They had a blast and will be back on their own horses next time around!

Today's Wise Words come from Grand Prix rider Nancy Lavoie👏
"The rider may have to influence the horse in a positive way more often to avoid the negative aid with commands such as, 'Do this, go here, slow down, bend there,'" says Lavoie. "When the true meaning of the aids is mentally and physically understood by the horse, he will perform better."

To create throughness with correct bend when your horse is crooked...
Imagine your crooked horse as a kinked hose. You need to straighten him to get the kinks out and get the water (his energy) flowing. Then you can bend him correctly.—Annie Morris

Malcolm and Zane gate crashed Tao and Lisa's lesson this morning. Probably one of the factors that put a spark in Tao's step.
Time to switch it up. Been awhile since these have had a lesson. #taoandlisa
