“THE ‘DO I SAY SOMETHING?’ DILEMMA”
Knowing when to check in can feel like a balancing act — especially when you don’t want to embarrass them or push too hard.
A simple, low-pressure approach often works best.
Something like:
“I’ve noticed you seem a bit off lately — I’m here if you want to talk, or we can just hang out.”
Small moments of openness build long-term trust.

“THE ‘IS THIS NORMAL?’ PHASE”
Puberty has a way of turning everyday life into a constant round of “is this normal?” for both young people and their parents.
The short answer is: most of the time, yes.
The longer answer is: development isn’t linear, and there’s a very wide range of what’s considered typical.
If you’re ever unsure, you don’t need to guess — checking in with a health professional is always a valid option.

“THE PERIOD EMERGENCY YOU DIDN’T TRAIN FOR”
For many parents, this is a moment you don’t get a practice run for — a period starting at school.
It can feel like a big deal in the moment, but it’s a very normal part of growing up.
At an Elladee Period and Pubery session we teach you both how to put together a simple period kit for school, how to respond with a calm mind, and a bit of reassurance.
Most importantly — this is something most families navigate at some point. But it helps to have the right support

THE “WHO TAUGHT THEM THAT?” POST
At some point, every parent realises:
if you don’t talk to your kids about s*x and relationships…
the internet absolutely will 😬
S*x education isn’t about encouraging young people to do something.
It’s about helping them:
stay safe
understand consent
recognise healthy relationships
ask questions without shame
Awkward conversations are usually still better than silence.

Periods can feel very different for autistic people.
Sensory overwhelm, routine disruption, pain, emotional exhaustion and anxiety can all become amplified during different stages of the menstrual cycle.
And too often, these experiences are dismissed instead of supported.
There is no “right” way to experience a period.
Support should be personalised, practical and shame-free 🤍
At Elladee, we’re passionate about creating safe and supportive women’s health education for neurodivergent young people and women.

“THE BIG TRUTH”
Puberty is more than physical changes.
It’s emotional development, identity formation, and growing independence happening all at once.
Your role isn’t to control every part of it — it’s to stay steady while they grow through it.
That stability is often what they remember most.

PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS and the change reflects something many women have known for a long time:
This condition is about far more than ovaries alone.
The new term, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), acknowledges the broader hormonal, metabolic and long-term health impacts that can come with this condition including insulin resistance, fertility challenges, mental health impacts, irregular periods, fatigue and more.
For many women, the old name felt confusing or minimising. Especially when ovarian cysts weren’t even part of their experience.
Experts hope this change will improve awareness, diagnosis and holistic care for the millions of women affected 🤍
At Elladee, we’re passionate about helping women better understand their hormones, cycles and health with evidence-based education and compassionate support.
If you’re navigating PMOS/PCOS, irregular periods, hormonal changes or perimenopause, reach out to us for support.

If emotions seem to shift quickly during puberty, you’re not imagining it.
Hormones, tiredness, stress, and growing independence can all show up in big feelings — sometimes all at once.
What can look like “attitude” is often just development in progress.
Connection and calm usually go further than correction in these moments.

No one really prepares women for the rage that can sometimes come with perimenopause.
The irritability.
The overstimulation.
The emotional exhaustion.
The feeling of not quite recognising yourself.
Hormonal changes can profoundly impact mood, sleep, stress tolerance and emotional regulation and many women carry this silently with enormous guilt.
You are not “too much.”
And you do not have to navigate this alone 🤍
At Elladee, we provide evidence-based perimenopause education and support in a safe, compassionate space.
