EASTER SUNDAY IN WAROONA - the All Australian Car Day is turning 10!

Brought to you by Just Cruizin Street Machiners, this fabulous family-friendly event features a huge display of classic Australian, American and European cars, as well as a wine and gourmet hall, food and market stands, motorbikes, engines, tools, toys, antique and crafts.

Head to the Waroona Showgrounds on Sunday 9th April from 10am – 3pm. General admission is $5 per person; children 10 and under can enter for free.

Make a day of it - follow the art and mural trail (make sure to stop in at DnD's Lolly Jar), grab a bite at one of our fabulous eateries, swim and picnic at Drakesbrook Weir, and enjoy more gorgeous scenery on the scarp as you meander your way to family-friendly Drakesbrook Wines.

DRAKESBROOK WEIR PONTOON

The Shire of Waroona wish to advise Community Members and Visitors to the Drakesbrook Weir that the pontoon is scheduled for major works.

The pontoon will be removed from site Friday 11 November.

An update on the progress of refurbishment works will be provided once inspection has been completed. We are hopeful works will be complete prior to school holidays.

The wildflowers at Waroona Dam are putting on a stunning show so why not take some time out for a "forest & farmland" country escape. Set in the jarrah forest of the Darling Scarp, Lake Navarino Holiday Park is a nature-lover's delight with friendly bird and animal life, fabulous fungi, and gorgeous orchids. It's just over an hour south of Perth and Waroona Visitor Centre has all the information you need on trails, eateries, and things to see and do. Next stop Waroona!

Tomorrow is the 2022 Waroona Troutfest!!

10am – 1pm, Drakesbrook Weir, Waroona.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to come along and enjoy. Think kids casting competition, community trout release, free fishing rod hire and fantastic stalls to see the latest equipment.

There will be food and drinks available to purchase from the Lions and Leo club of Waroona as well as the Big Coffee Van. ☕🌭🥤

A friendly reminder to bring some cash as not all store holders will have EFTPOS.

Waroona Troutfest 2022 🎣

Come along to the annual family-friendly event and join the community in hand releasing trout into the Drakesbrook Weir.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Whether you’re a beginner in freshwater fishing or an expert or just interested in a fantastic day out at the Weir, this event is for you!

"The red-tailed black cockatoo, Calyptorhynchus banksii, is found throughout the mainland of Australia. The forest red-tailed black cockatoo Calyptorhynchus banksii naso is found in the humid and subhumid zones in the south-west. There are two other subspecies found in Western Australia: Calyptorhynchus banksii macrorhynchus in the Kimberley and Calyptorhynchus banksii samueli in the western arid and semiarid zones of the Pilbara, Midwest and Wheatbelt. Forest red-tails have a short rounded crest and are a mostly glossy black colour with rectangular orange-red panels on the tail feathers. They have a significantly longer and wider bill compared to Calyptorhynchus banksii samueli. They make a loud and harsh ‘karee’ or ‘krar-raak’ call. Experts are able to identify which black cockatoo species has been in an area by looking at the bite marks on chewed Marri nuts."

These birds are found throughout Waroona, particularly in the forest around Lake Navarino Holiday Park and Drakesbrook Fine Wines.

Beach access heading south at Preston Beach has been closed temporarily due to a wash out and big tides. The access heading north is still open. Drive safely .
